Last joint press conference with the President and Tony Blair (MORE: BLAIR TO HEAD WORLD BANK?)

Man, talk about bittersweet! Gateway Pundit says it best:

And, years from now, the world will look back and two giants will stand out.

– Two men who were unfaltering in purpose and mission.
– Two men and their allies who took out two of the most evil regimes in history.
– Two men who, under incredible duress and constant abuse, freed 50,000,000 million suffering people, built democracies, and made the world more safe.

But in the short term, the left in this country and the ‘elites’ in the rest of the world view TB and the President as a ‘bigger threat’ to the safety and security of the world than OBL himself. Not only do I think this is because they are completely clueless on valid issues related to Islamofascism, but I think there’s a lot of envy there, too. The ‘enlightened left’ likes to think they are the world’s heroes, saviors and when an evil hateful Republican (or in Blair’s case, a pragmatic Labour MP) who’s supposed to only be interested in feathering his own nest comes along, has to respond the worst terrorist attack in US history to happen on US soil and does so by taking the fight to the enemy and in the process frees 50 million from brutal ‘leaders’, there’s resentment there because they feel like that person is stealing their ‘savior’ thunder.

So in response – in order to downplay that leader’s successes in order for them to try and reclaim the mantle of ‘smart’, they attack him and his successes at liberating millions of people as ‘irrelevant’ and even worse, claim that it’s that leader’s fault that the terrorists came out of the woodwork after the fight was taken to them in the places where those people were liberated.

The Democratic party is full of self-serving narcissists. In their eyes, of they can’t take credit for saving people, then no one can.

Screw that.

Say it loud, and say it proud:

THANKS, GUYS!
Blair and Bush

And while Blair is on his way out, France’s new president Sarko has appointed a Socialist as his foreign minister. But, he’s a Socialist who supports the Iraq war (whereas Sarko does not). Fancy that!

Something to keep in mind about Sarko is that he’s a “Euro-conservative” which means he’s a more to the left on some issues than a US conservative. For example, he’s a believer that gw is man-made. But his social stances on issues like illegal immigration are more in line with ours than the Euro-elites. The bottom line is that Sarko won’t be a knee-jerk reactionary anti-American during his tenure as French president, and that’s good to know, considering America’s biggest ally will be stepping down next month.

PM Update: The UK Daily Mail is reporting a rumor that Tony Blair is being considered as a replacement for embattled current World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz:

Tony Blair may be asked to head the World Bank after its president quit in a sleaze row.

One of America’s top economists today revealed that the retiring prime minister is being considered as a replacement for disgraced Paul Wolfowitz.

Nobel prize-winner Joe Stiglitz, a former senior vice president at the World Bank, said: “He is one of the people that is clearly being discussed.”

Mr Blair is expected to cash in on his international contacts after quitting Downing Street on 27 June and his agent said he would quit as an MP if “a big international job” came up.

Mr Stiglitz said the World Bank would probably prefer an economist with experience in development – which some pundits argue effectively rules out the prime minister, who has often admitted to being shaky at maths.

Nevertheless, Prof Stiglitz said: “He is one of the people that is clearly being discussed.

“I think it would be good for the institution at this juncture if they had somebody who was an economist who really understood what development was entailed and could work closely with the staff that has been very alienated by Paul Wolfowitz over the last two years and bring together the institution.

“It wouldn’t rule (Blair) out but I would say that if I were going through a first priority list of priorities it would probably begin with somebody with real experience in development.

“But Blair has clearly been a political leader that has the kinds of connections that one needs, that would be useful as head of the institution.”

Stay tuned …
