Quote of the day

This quote is on my page-a-day calendar for Monday. Illinois Republican politico Maureen Murphy once said:

“The reason there are so few female politicians is that it is too much trouble to put makeup on two faces.”

Didn’t stop Hillary, obviously.

And speaking of, she’s now denying that the criticism her campaign and supporters have been leveling at the rest of the Democratic field was never about gender:

CONCORD, N.H. — Hillary Rodham Clinton said Friday that her status as the Democratic presidential front-runner _ not her gender _ has led her male primary rivals to intensify their criticism of her.

“I don’t think they’re piling on because I’m a woman. I think they’re piling on because I’m winning,” Clinton told reporters after filing paperwork to appear on the New Hampshire primary ballot.

“I anticipate it’s going to get even hotter, and if you can’t stand the heat get out of the kitchen. I’m very much at home in the kitchen,” she said.

Oh really? That’s not how it sounded when her husband was running for president the first time around (yes, I know she’s talking about the political kitchen, but couldn’t resist throwing that “baking cookies” quote in there!).

Update: ST reader Chuck sends along this link to some anti-Hillary bumper stickers. I sure hope to see someone design one around her damsel in distress act! Heh.
