Tuesday open thread

Quick note: Earlier this season, I asked for tip jar donations to help me pay for a new site design and hosting services for the next year. Mega-thanks to those who have contributed, as I have just now paid for work to commence on the new site design. If all goes well, it should be up just a couple of days before PEBO’s inauguration. Hey, he preached about change, so in turn I was inspired to “change” the look of this site. Ok, I know – that was a bad joke!

The cost of the blog design wiped out my Paypal funds, and I also had to chip in some of my own dough (thank goodness for the Christmas bonus! LOL), but I will not start blegging again until after the first of the year. It’s Christmas, and you have more important things to pay for than my site hosting!

Can’t wait for everyone to see it. I’m so exicted I’m thisclose to tapdancing on my kitchen table $\:d/$

Ok – here’s a hint: I think the design is very unique, something you probably haven’t seen before on a political blog. That’s all I will say. For today, anyway.

Personal gripe time: last Saturday I brought the old War Wagon to my Toyota dealer in Philly for routine service. The service service advisor was competent, the facility is fairly new and has a comfortable waiting room, and the work was done well and completed exactly on time.

Everything was perfect. Right up until I went to pay for it.

I swiped my credit card in the machine at the cashier’s desk, and a message appears in Spanish. I wait until the transaction times out and swipe it again.

Again, the message is in Spanish.

I ask the cashier – is there a prompt to choose language? No, she says…and translates the message for me.

Wait, I say – you mean there is NO option for English?

No, she says – half the prompts are in English and half in Spanish. Which, as dumb as that sounds, was the truth.

Seems like this dealer wants to be the molecular opposite of Joey Vento. Fine. This is one customer he’s lost.

It’s the first sign of the next phase of the Balkanization of America. All the “press 1 for English” prompts were bad enough – now the stage is set for us to be forced to learn a foreign language in our own nation, because the immigrants refuse to learn ours.

I don’t want to reopen the immigration debate we had here about 18 months ago – but people who support an easier path to citizenship for illegals should think seriously about what that would do to our American identity. If there’s any of it left once the PC crowd is through with it.

Agreed. Unfortunately with the election of his holiness, I don’t think this is going to get any better. He already stated on the campaign trail that Americans need to learn Spanish. I can only imagine what’s going to happen now that he’s going to be in charge.

Will Spanish be available in the re-education camps???

Now I went back and did Spanish to English and it was NOTHING like what I had originally written in English to Spanish… Hmmmmm… Oh well it was worth a try.

hello, How are you all doing tonite? I think if I had wanted to learn Spanish I would have paid better attention in Spanish class when I was in high school. I found this translation from English to Spanish website. I guess its what I will use for the future. I wonder how long it will take America to get a grip? Will I still be around for it.
