Gates readies big cuts in weapons

Two defense officials who were not authorized to speak publicly said Gates will announce up to a half-dozen major weapons cancellations later this month. Candidates include a new Navy destroyer, the Air Force’s F-22 fighter jet, and Army ground-combat vehicles, the offi cials said.

More cuts are planned for later this year after a review that could lead to reductions in programs such as aircraft carriers and nuclear arms, the officials said.

Did I tell ya or did I tell ya!!! It is the plan of this administration to end our F22 contracts and keep the F15 & F16 in the air longer than they should be. Lockheed cannot sell this item to anyone without prior DoD approval and they are not likely to give this technology to anyone but our closest allies, England most likely. But with how Barack feels about England, it probably won’t happen to much if at all. So now it is a losing business venture for Lockheed, thanks to these cuts.

You can kiss the Gerald Ford good bye too. Any upgrades to the Abrams and the Stryker will be gone, it is a sad state of affairs all in all. – Lorica
