Obama’s Missed Opportunity to Tell it Like it Is

Ye know, there’s a side of me that is always going to wonder if the DNC didn’t put something in the air/water at each of Obama’s campaign stops during 2008. I mean, you have this guy who supposedly is the greatest speaker in the history of the United States, a guy who had people fainting at his speeches because he was just so moving and motivational. Yet once he gets elected, he immediately becomes such a bumbling, pathetic figure, unable to make any sense unless he’s got his teleprompter there to tell him what to say.

I just can’t explain it. I never found him to be particularly enthralling. I certainly did not get motivated by his speeches to do anything other than vote for McCain who I was NOT a fan of. In fact, the only person who gave me goosebumps and made me want to hop up and down with hope was Sarah Palin. Her acceptance speech at the RNC convention had me flashing back to a time when I was fortunate enough to be nearly front row for a speech Ronald Reagan gave in 1986.

Whatever the case, whether it was just a fantastic network of hype or drugged water, I wish we could get our hands on it for this fall and 2012. Because there ARE some candidates out there who don’t seem to move people in such a way. And we’re going to need everyone we can get this fall.
