In the first month of your Presidency, you would:

I’m feeling a little tired and uninspired tonight, and somewhat in the dumps about the future of the GOP presidential race. So I’m putting the Presidency in your hands … in a pretend sort of way.

We know what we want our future President’s agenda to be once he’s sworn in – but what would you do that first month if the job was yours?

Serious answers only – no “FIRE CONGRESS” … even though I know that might be tempting to some!

Well, a President Phineas would:

1) Ask Congress for an immediate repeal of ObamaCare and Dodd-Frank.

2)Fire all “czars.”

3)Order an independent prosecutor’s investigation of Operation Fast & Furious.

4) Appoint an AG and Head of the Civil Rights Division with a directive to enforce voting rights laws without any regard for the ethnicity of the parties involved, and to reform the division to remove political bias.

5) Ask Congress (as part of 1, above) to approve the Ryan Plan or the modified one he recently praised.

6) Ask Congress to begin work on passage of the Bill of Federalism to send to the states.

7) Order all Cabinet departments and regulatory agencies (Other than NatSec-related departments) to reduce their spending to 2006 levels and to ask for no more than 1% increases thereafter.

8 ) Draw up plans for the serious reform or elimination of the EPA, NLRB, FCC, and the Departments of Commerce, Labor, HUD, HHS, Education, Transportation, and Energy.

9) Then go have lunch.

In addition to some of President Phineas’s suggestions, I would call up the Canadians and get the Keystone pipeline project restarted and I would give the Poles the missile defense systems that W promised them and Obama reneged on.
I would have a reproduction of Churchill’s bust made to put in my office. Asking for the original back would just be awkward.

And then, in addition to the proposals of Presidents Phineas and Nanc, I would 1) shut down the sounthern border tighter than a drum, tighten up the northern border, and 2) instruct the A.G. to start prosecuting every criminal employer that has hired criminal aliens, and push legislation making such a criminal act punishable by fines of at least $1,000/day/violation and mandatory jail time of a minimum of 6 months per violation, no concurrent sentences. The criminal employers would have no more than 24 business hours to comply. That should solve the criminal alien problem in about three hours.

1. Militarize the southern border; minimal rules of engagement for confirmed hostiles
2. Request Congress to:
a) Repeal the 17th Amendment. At the same time, request that all Congresspersons lose their federal status and become employees of their respective states – each state can elect/appoint and ‘disappoint’ as they see fit.
b) eliminate federal taxes on the individual and instead tax each state at some consistent percentage of their GDP. Cost of membership, y’know? States that cannot meet their obligations (California) may still send representatives to Congress, but lose their votes until the situation is rectified. Same applies to states requesting federal aid, with the additional detail of reverting to territorial status.
c) formally define the Commerce Clause with its original intent to make it lawyer-proof
d) repeal anything enacted under the current administration
3. Enumerate all extra-constitutional federal entities and move to eliminate them or merge them into legitimate entities; everyone on the list has the remainder of the fiscal year to:
a) not enact new regulations
b) not enforce existing regulations
c) find real, private-sector jobs
4. Appoint independent prosecutors for:
a) Fast & Furious
b) Solyndra and its ilk
c) assorted DoJ misbehavior too numerous to get into…
d) assorted DoEnergy misbehavior too numerous to get into…
5. Start drilling, approve Keystone…. you get the idea…
6. Repair relations with the UK; warn the Middle East that the first time a terrorist organization $%#^s with us, we withdraw our diplomatic presence in their countries. The second time, a military presence will replace it…

At this point, I would say it’s Miller Time…

1. The President is not required to spend money on programs Congress authorizes but fails to fund. Therefore, I’d tell Treasury not to increase the national debt by even $1 for the entire duration of my Presidency. Prioritize spending and only spend as much money as is raised – anything beyond that gets zeroed out. Sorry. The budget would be balanced instantly and most of the unconstitutional programs in the federal government would have their funding eliminated.

2. The rest of my list is nearly identical to Phineas’ above.

All good suggestions… President Lorica would be looking at the building of 2 new refineriers one in Nebraska and one in North Dakota so the new pipeline would not have to go so far as Texas and we could increase out output. Also I would order that only the top 6 grades of gasoline be refined for the good of the nation. – Lorica
