(Video) Romney-Ryan: a great way to win, and a great way to lose

In this episode of Afterburner, Bill Whittle’s clearly happy; he got the VP candidate he wanted, Paul Ryan, and he explains why Ryan is the right choice.

But Bill’s happy for another reason, too. Like me, he expects we’ll win this election. (1) But, if we lose and it’s four more years of Hopenchange, then Whittle will still be happy with Romney’s pick.

(1) Like Professor Paul Rahe, I just have a gut feeling this is going to be a landslide. The election has a real “1980 feel” to it.

Voters tend to exhibit and follow trends. While working the primary and runoff elections here in Texas my early voting station accommodated about 800 voters; two commiecrats in the primary and one in the runoff. The trend of participation and involvement, or lack of it, is obvious. And the prediciton of a landslide is neither an isolated nor bizarre sentiment.

To me in Florida, this has a 2000 feel to it. I was volunteering for Bush’s campaign then. I saw such media bias, and polls giving Gore the edge here. I kept looking around at the large and enthusiastic crowds at then Governor Bush’s rallies, all the yard signs, and bumper stickers for Bush, wondering, how can they give this state to Gore? I truly feel that Romney and Ryan have the edge here, but it is close.

I agree you put on the best candidacy and move forward. If you lose you lose, but you do not compromise on principle to win. There has been too much of that already.

A landslide? are you kidding me? Maybe for Obama. Even Karl Rove scores this 271 Obama to 184 Romney currently. Nate Silver scores it 299 to 239. And this is after the Ryan “bounce”.

DawninCFL brings up some interesting points. Politicians stage what is called a “pseudo-event” where they gather many together for an appearance (with an offer of some sort of reward) to make it look like they are more popular than they actually are, like a Ron Paul rally. Also, all polls are statistical lies because of a shared fundamental flaw; they naively rely on humans to tell the truth.
