One more from the “Secret Lives of Presidents” calendar
I just love these! This is the historical tidbit printed on today’s page:
Charles Krauthammer sets the record straight on US/Muslim relations
As most of us expected, President Obama began his presidency by “reaching out” to the Muslim world in his inaugural speech, and then again in his first interview as President – which he did with al-Arabiya. The tone on both occasions was apologetic in nature (in a way that only liberals have mastered), as if to suggest that the US had been nothing but hostile to both Muslims and Muslim nations for the last 20 or so years. This is false.
On the defining issue of our time, how will history view President Bush?
Over the last year or so we’ve been treated to stories from the MSM about “historians” who suggest that President Bush will be remembered as one of the “worst” in history, if not the worst. While his domestic policies aren’t making anyone happy these days (and in fact, he will leave office next week with an approval rating in the low 30s), when it comes to foreign policy, specifically the global war on terror – the defining issue of our time – it is the one issue where more often than not, he got it right.
Humorous story about Grace and Calvin Coolidge
Shortly after Christmas, I made my usual calendar run to pick up any I didn’t get for Christmas (I’m a calendar junkie – I have one several in rooms around the house and the 8-5) and picked up a neat page-a-day one I had not previously seen in all my years of calendar shopping. It was called “[The] Secret Lives of US Presidents and First Ladies” and on each day, they have a little factoid not widely known about former presidents and their respective wives.
