Awesome – and of course underreported – news from Afghanistan:
One of their favorite retired Generals, Major General John Batiste, who appeared in an ad for the anti-war Vote Vets website, and who had an op/ed published on the liberal anti-war website Think Progress in August in which he called for the US to “begin a responsible and deliberate redeployment from Iraq,” has apparently changed his tune.
John Bresnahan at The Politico examines Murtha’s latest remarks on the surge and contrasts them with defeatist remarks he’s made about the surge in the past.
On the front page, no less. But just this past Saturday, they repeated their calls for Democrats to keep pushing for a cut and run strategy that would effectively cut off progress in Iraq at the knees. In light of their recent discovery that the situation on the ground in Iraq is improving, will we see a revised editorial in this weekend’s paper reflecting that? I won’t hold my breath.
