The Panthers (5-9) are all set to play their last home game of the season, and today they’ll be taking on the Oakland Raiders (4-10) on a mild day here in Charlotte – 50 degrees as I type this. Should get up to 57, which feels more like fall football weather than winter weather. Nice. 🙂
The Carolina Panthers (4-9) are coming off a very exciting home win last week against their division rivals the Falcons and are hoping to create a “win streak” of sorts down the final stretch of the season as they take on the San Diego Chargers (5-8) today in an away game. I myself was so impressed with how the Panthers played against the Falcons that I picked them to win today over the Chargers who, of course, are not nearly as good as the Falcs – and maybe not as good a team as the Panthers are when the Cats are “on their game.” The big question is: WILL they be on their game today, and will they play the FULL four quarters of football or run out of steam in the 3rd Q, as has so often been the case with this team?
The Panthers play the Falcons today here in Charlotte in hopes of avenging their heartbreaking loss from Week 4 where they let a lead slip away in the final few minutes of the game. If memory serves me correctly, the Cats played well in that game until the final 2 or 3 minutes. Then again, our biggest problem for the last year-plus under Coach Ron Rivera has been the failure to “finish strong.” They’ve looked better in the last three weeks, especially as Cam Newton looks to be finding his rhythm, so maybe we’ll see a different (better) outcome today than we did in the first meeting.
Fresh off of an impressive win over the Eagles last week in Philadelphia, the Panthers are away from home again this week as they prepare to take on the KC Chiefs. And while both teams would love to be talking and focusing on nothing but football this weekend, a horrifying tragedy unfolded yesterday that is understandably dominating headlines. The Panthers take on the Bucs today here at home, and after the embarassing loss we had playing the Broncos, I’m hoping we’ll rebound this week. But am not optimistic. I actually stopped watching the game midway through the 3rd quarter last Sunday – something I almost never do. We have to do better today.
