Lara Logan’s rape as a symbol of Islam’s “silent scandal”

Tomorrow is my 40th birthday. It’s also the 38th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision. When I was a vocal proponent of abortion back in my liberal days, I thought it was kinda neat that my birthday was also the anniversary date of the Supreme Court giving women in the United States a “right to choose” whether or not to terminate their respective pregnancy(ies). Like most feminists, I treated the day as one that should be celebrated – and not just because I was turning one year older.
NY Times columnist Ross Douthat wrote an emotional piece today about the issues of abortion, fertility, and adoption. In the column, he noted how – contrary to what liberals want you to believe – abortion is hardly the “rare” event we’re told it is, and how – also contrary to what liberals want you to believe – the waiting lists to adopt grow each year, due to the rise of single parenthood and, shocker of shockers, abortion. In the article, he made no moral judgments against any woman who has had an abortion; rather, he mourned the aborting of 1 in 5 pregnancies especially in light of the fact that so many do want to adopt. So many babies could have had warm, loving homes if only their mother had made the choice to keep them.
Where has this video been all my life? Coulda saved me a lot of time and effort explaining the hypocrisy, duplicity, moral bankruptcy, and radicalism of modern day so-called “feminists.” 🙂
Why? Because they’re supposedly worried about the influence Hooters’ attempts at creating a more “family-friendly” environment will have on kids (via Memeorandum):
See, the husband isn’t raping her if he forces her into sex against her will, he’s just enforcing the terms of the contract. You know, like making some vendor deliver the goods you paid for. Yeah, that’s it! The good Islamic husband is just making her deliver the goods.
