It’s hard to believe (or perhaps not), but sometimes the politically correct sports media can be even worse than the mainstream media when it comes to anti-Christian bias and rabid sensationalism. The NYT’s Toni Monkovic provides sterling examples, while being one himself:
It’s a pretty, slightly chilly (mid-50s) fall afternoon here in beautiful Charlotte, NC. The Panthers (2-5) are preparing to take on the Vikings (1-6) here at home in a game that has me a little excited because we might have a chance to win this one, considering the Vikings seem to make more mistakes on the field than we do.
I have the Panthers winning this one today. More wishful thinking on my part than anything else. What games are you watching this afternoon?
It’s a beautiful early fall-like day here in Charlotte – the temperature is 68 degrees, the sun is shining, the leaves are falling off the trees … and the Panthers are playing here at home against their division rivals the New Orleans Saints. New Orleans is tied with the Bucs atop the NFC South at 3-1, while the Panthers are dwelling in the cellar at 1-3. Their record, however, is deceiving as their losses haven’t been the blowouts and/or the “no competition” games we Panthers fans had gotten used to seeing over the last few years. That’s thanks in large part to rookie QB Cam Newton and an offensive line that has seen its spirit come alive again. “Coming close to victory” is not an actual win, true. But in the eyes of many here, it’s the best we can hope for as the Panthers continue to rebuild under new head coach Ron Rivera.

Cautious optimism is in the air today here in Charlotte as Carolina Panthers fans, excited off of last week’s impressive-even-in-a-loss showing by rookie QB Cam Newton, in their first regular season home game of the NFL 2011-2012 season, take on defending Super Bowl champs Green Bay on a Sunday afternoon that so far feels more like a mid-October day than a late summer day. The Packers, of course, are coming off an impressive victory against the New Orleans Saints from Thursday before last.
