Giuliani is the only one that I would seriously consider voting for in the general election.

Still not enough info on anyone to decide, but I like much of what I do know about Dr. Rice.

V.P. Cheney said he’s not going to run, and I believe him, but I’d vote for him in a second if he did.

After the treatment Guiliani gave his ex-wife and their kid(s)(openly all over NYC with his then-mistress), he’d have a difficult time with many women. (Yeah, I know Bubba got away with worse, but I think liberal women see these things differently than do conservative women. At least the conservative women I know do.)

Then, there’s always Bob Dole…Doh!

  3. Reaganite says:

Mike Huckabee from my home state of Arkansas. Why? I’d love to see a conservative REPUBLICAN from ARKANSAS absolutely THRASH the Hildabeast!

  4. Brian: you’d actually vote for a Republican?

Bach: I tend to agree. Guiliani would get hammered in the press over that, and the Dems wouldn’t let him ‘get away’ with it thanks to how the Republicans handled Clinton’s extramarital ‘activities.’

Reaganite: Now THAT would be interesting! I wonder if the R’s will run a southern Republican again?

  5. Brian says:

    Sister Toldjah,

I’m actually not a Democrat, I’m an independent. I’m much more concerned with how good our government is rather than how big or small it is. I’ve become very anti-Republican because of how far to the right the party has moved, except when it comes to fiscal responsibility. The Republican Party has been taken over by religious and ideological extremists.

The reason why I think President Clinton did such a good job as president is because he wasn’t an ideologue. He did what was best for the country, not just what the left wing of his party wanted him to do. He was willing to go against his party with NAFTA, and welfare reform and he was also willing to make unpopular decisions such as raising taxes to reduce and eliminate the deficit.

The one area where President Clinton could have done better was foreign policy. He tended to be overcautious and indecisive. President Bush has been the opposite, taking our country into war without thinking everything through. He had no plans for what to do once we took over the country and he had no plans for dealing with any type of insurgency.

I think Rudolph Giuliani did a very good job as mayor of New York, especially at reducing crime, and I would seriously consider voting for him if he runs for president.

  6. Lorica says:

You will never get the “Extreme Radical Right” /chuckle to vote for Giuliani. Giuliani is a RINO and everyone knows it. The Christian Right will just stay home and you will have a race between “Moderites and the Left”. This means that about 20 million Christians will just stay home. I wouldn’t vote for any of those “dream” canidates, except maybe George Allen, and I would have to find out way more about him before I would. But since he is a senator, and American’s prefer to elect Govenors, his chances are pretty low. There is no doubt in my mind that one of the many former Rebulican Govenors or current, are the persons that need to be running in this race.

I’m actually interested in knowing where the party has moved to the right. Can you give me an example of legislation that has passed in the last 4 years that gives you the ability to make this incorrect accusation?

Brian wrote, “unpopular decisions such as raising taxes to reduce and eliminate the deficit”

I understand the impulse in believing that raising taxes raises revenue. Please, please understand, raising or lowering tax rates has an adverse or positive affect on the economy and can actually do the opposite of what you believe. For instance, in 1981 tax rates were lowered drastically. Revenues into the government went from 550 Billion to 990 Billion by 1989. More recently when tax rates were raised in 1990 by Bush senior, revenues were far less than anticipated because the economy went through a deep recession. Again, when Clinton raised tax rates in 1993, the economy didn’t go into a recession but went along until the deep spending binge that every company and government agency went through from 1997-2000 to correct any and every Y2K problem there might be. The extra spending in effect caused the economy to SOAR. When an economy soars Brian, revenues into the government go way up. I understand the willingness to want to give the President credit for defecits/surpluses/good economies or bad but it just is not up to the President on how well the economy does and whether or not there is a surplus or not.

I told everyone that by the 3rd quarter of 2000 that the economy will go down because of the overspending prior to December 31st of 1999. Every company I knew was overspending on IT. GM, Ford, Cal Fed Bank and government agencies and small and medium sized businesses. Guess what. I was wrong !!! I only had to wait until April through October to see the signs of a falling economy and it was so obvious and the press chose not to bring these facts into light because of the November 2000 election. The data is out there. When the economy went through it’s double-dip recession of 2000 and 2001 liberals (and independants Brian) BLAMED Bush for this. Then liberals without any common sense blamed Bush for raising the deficit and said it was DUE TO THE TAX CUT.

Unfortunately for liberals they haven’t recognized the power of tax cuts which allow businesses and people to keep more of thier own money which means they have MORE MONEY TO SPEND. When everyone who pays taxes was given a tax cut that means they have more to spend and when they spend that means they are purchasing goods and services. When businesses and people are purchasing more goods and services then that means businesses prosper because they have to provide more goods and services. When businesses have to provide more they need more people to do that work. When they need more people more people are employed. AND THEN GUESS WHAT. Revenue into the government increases. Economics 101.

Brian shows the partisan ship by writing, “He had no plans for what to do” That is an incorrect accusation and sounds like John Kerry himself. American/Bush/USA had plans and have plans and are executing on the plans. Things don’t go perfect or go as we wish. Plans even are changed and modified. Conservatives Brian have wished for a harder-core “War on Terror” where we aren’t sacrificing troops and are wiping out more buildings and terrorists much more quickly instead of giving them a fighting chance at picking off our men. Bush has been in between conservatives and pacificists by trying to be too nice and worrying about the mosques and worrying about what we’d look like if we use too much force. All of the accusational partisan rhetoric from people like you and Cindy for the last 24 months has emboldened the enemy and made them feel like they are “” this close to making us leave. sarcasm Way to go! /end sarcasm
