This is unreal:
In the original version of this story, TIME reported that “one of the most damning pieces of evidence investigators have in their possession, John Sifton of Human Rights Watch told Time’s Tim McGirk, is a photo, taken by a Marine with his cell phone that shows Iraqis kneeling — and thus posing no threat — before they were shot.” While Sifton did tell TIME that there was photographic evidence, taken by Marines, he had only heard about the specific content of the photos from reports done by NBC, and had no firsthand knowledge. TIME regrets the error.
Flopping Aces and Sweetness and Light put this correction in context.
This is becoming more apparent by the day, isn’t it?
Update: Kim Priestap at Wizbang has a must-read post loaded with links on more Haditha story discrepancies and speculation that all may not be as it seems with what we’ve been hearing and reading ad nauseam in the MSM. (Hat tip: Bak)

Very SAD. Reckless and Sad. Negigent, Reckless and Sad. Think this will get reported by Al Jazeera?
Error is a baseball term.
Error is a mathematical miscalculation.
Error is not checking facts and (SOP) for Time.
To characterize the “misprint” as an error is to say their inability to print truth isn’t as bad as they’re instinctual bias to drive the stories left. If you get my drift…..
How many thousands of these exact same types of errors and excuses does one need to read before the checkbooks slam shut from any subscriber with an active cell structure?
Wizbang has an UPDATE to look at which is amazing about a father who was embedded with the Kilo company. His report was written by Reuters.
Wizbang writes: Additional thoughts: The two ministers who were imbedded with Kilo company were in Haditha in January, two months after the massacre in Haditha supposedly took place. The point these ministers are making is that if something terrible had happened in Haditha two months earlier, the Iraqi civilians wouldn’t have been as friendly and welcoming to them when they arrived.
Are people still reading Time or Newsweek? I don’t! They lie! And have for a long time.
Someone read it for us to find out that they are continuing to lie
Mark Steyn (one of my role models) had this to say about Tim Russert back in April. It is a good description of the MSM in general:
Tim Russert said today, he defended NBC, the media’s Iraq coverage, by saying we capture reality. Yeah, they capture reality in the same sense that those insurgent guys capture people. They saw it’s head off and shout Allah Akhbar at reality. That’s what they’re doing when they capture reality. The reality of what’s happening in Iraq is very different from what Tim Russert thinks it is.
Make that March of this year!
Personally I’m so fed up with the obvious “get Bush”/Military hating drive-by media, I wish we could get everyone to simply boycott them, not buy their printed lies, watch their Jihadist loving scripted TV partisan Op-eds posing as newscasts, and in general boycott their advertisers as well. If the GOP leadership would make a call for that, you can bet your ass it would stop in a NY minute.

Me too BBH. I’m almost to the point where if the media said a nuclear bomb went off in NY and had video proof, I’d have to call a few 212 numbers and get no answer before I’d believe it.
If the marines turn out to be not at fault in Haditha, reporters or their leakers NEED to go to jail. I’d prefer both, since the leakers appear to be the insurgents or their supporters. I’m not convinced as to whether the marines did bad things or not, but that’s because the info hasn’t even come out yet. I’m certainly willing to wait for the facts, and if they murdered, then face the drums. If they didn’t, all who reported ‘facts’ should face much bigger drums.
Can you believe that the guy who fingered Zarkawi has been shown on ABC, photo and name? What right does ABC have to give this man a death sentence? I vow to remove ABC from my satelite. I’ve had enough. (after the NBA finals I mean)
Very nice comprehensive set of links to others poking holes in Haditha. MUST MUST READ and see all the linked pages.
One of the links was this incredible investigative work
Kudos to YOU Mr. Riehl!! You are for real.
I went to Riehl World View’s main page and saw this ASTOUNDING POST concerning the marines accused of Haditha speaking OUT
The fascinating reading has this excerpt:
They offer a house by house account of their actions, beginning with their coming under sniper fire from an area house immediately after the IED exploded. The article suggests the Rules of Engagement may prove to be the primary area of debate over the incident.
Another excerpt:
A corporal with the unit leaned over to Wuterich and said he saw the shots coming from a specific house, and after a discussion with the platoon leader, they decided to clear the house, according to Wuterich’s account.
“There’s a threat, and they went to eliminate the threat,” Puckett said.
A four-man team of Marines, including Wuterich, kicked in the door and found a series of empty rooms, noticing quickly that there was one room with a closed door and people rustling behind it, Puckett said. They then kicked in that door, tossed a fragmentation grenade into the room, and one Marine fired a series of “clearing rounds” through the dust and smoke, killing several people, Puckett said.
The Marine who fired the rounds — Puckett said it was not Wuterich — had experience clearing numerous houses on a deployment in Fallujah, where Marines had aggressive rules of engagement.
Although it was almost immediately apparent to the Marines that the people dead in the room were men, women and children — most likely civilians — they also noticed a back door ajar and believed that insurgents had slipped through to a house nearby, Puckett said. The Marines stealthily moved to the second house, kicking in the door, killing one man inside and then using a frag grenade and more gunfire to clear another room full of people, he said.
Wuterich, not having found the insurgents, told the team to stop and headed back to the platoon leader to reassess the situation, Puckett said, adding that his client knew a number of civilians had just been killed.
The last part of the post reads:
They then noticed another man in all black scurrying between two houses across the street. When they went to investigate, the Marines found a courtyard filled with women and children and asked where the man was, Puckett said.
When the civilians pointed to a third house, the Marines attempted to enter and found a man with an AK-47 inside, flanked by three other men; the first Marine to enter tried to fire his weapon, but it jammed, Puckett said. The Marines then killed those four men.
The unit stayed at the scene for hours, helping to collect bodies as photos were taken. Wuterich, who remains on duty in California, where he lives with his wife and two young daughters, told Puckett that for months no one questioned his actions.
