I swear you cannot make this stuff up:
WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 — The White House today dismissed charges by prominent Democrats that President Bush sought to capitalize politically on the Sept. 11 attacks when he addressed the nation on Monday night.
“The president was not making partisan remarks,” Tony Snow, the chief White House spokesman, said at a briefing. He said the president’s address, marking the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attacks, was “not a speech designed to single anyone out for partisan reasons.”
Mr. Snow was responding to questions about Democrats’ response to the 17-minute speech in which Mr. Bush envisioned a fight to the finish against terrorists, and said that “a struggle for civilization” would be decided in part by the course of the war in Iraq.
Senators Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and Charles E. Schumer of New York, who heads the Democrats’ Senate campaign drive, denounced Mr. Bush’s speech almost immediately.
Mr. Kennedy said Mr. Bush “should be ashamed of using a national day of mourning” to justify his Iraq policy, while Mr. Schumer said, “You do not commemorate the tragedy of 9/11 by politicizing it.”
And Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the House Democratic leader, sharply criticized Mr. Bush today. “On the fifth anniversary of Sept. 11, President Bush continued to try to justify the invasion of Iraq by drawing nonexistent links to the 9/11 attacks,” Ms. Pelosi said. “To try to make partisan gain out of such tragedy dishonors all those we lost on Sept. 11.”
“In fact,” Ms. Pelosi went on, “the war in Iraq has made our effort to defeat terrorism and terrorists more difficult. Last night’s speech demonstrated that the president will go to any lengths to distract attention from his failures in Iraq, which have diverted focus from the war on terrorism.”
What utter nonsense. These people just cannot stand the fact that it was Bush who was the president on 9-11 and has been the man who has led us through the last five years of the WOT no thanks to Democrats and their whining about everything he has done from the Patriot Act, to warrantless wiretaps, to Gitmo, to Iraq, etc etc.
By the way, if the hypocritical Democrats want to talk about politicizing the Iraq war on 9-11, where was their condemnation of this (emphasis added):
U.S. Rep. Jim Moran, D-8th, lauded the “perfect professionalism” of Arlington’s public-safety personnel, who responded to the Pentagon after the crash and won worldwide accolades for containing the damage with no additional loss of life.
[...]
But Moran then maneuvered into more sensitive ground, suggesting that the country was not safer and intimating that the Bush administration’s foreign policy was headed in the wrong directions.
“More people hate us,” Moran said, a comment that drew an outburst from the crowd.
“My brother died on 9/11 - don’t make this political,” a woman in audience cried out.
Moran continued, calling on the nation to address the root causes of terrorism by the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the Pentagon and World Trade Center.
How’s about that? Taking shots at the President on 9-11, and suggesting that we need to ‘understand’ the ‘root causes’ of Islamofascists like Mohammed Atta.
What have you to say about that, Rep. Pelosi? Senator Kennedy? Senator Schumer?
Oh, that’s right. Nothing.
What a contrast. The President reminded America this week that we’re still at war with Islamofascists. And the Democrats have reminded us this week that they are still at war with the President.

Ted Kennedy is just upset he isn’t president. If Ted Kennedy were president, that 17 minute speech probably would have been at least 70 minutes.

Nancy Pelosi. No comment. I don’t have the time.

The LiberalFascists are just about coming unglued (they’re already unhinged so that one is covered) because the WOT is back on the national stage. Just when they thought they had a lock on the upcoming Congressional elections, that their carefully crafted media blitz, playing on the natural aversion of everyone concerning war, and turning that into “against the Iraq war” propaganda, was doing the job, that evil Rove/Buah come roaring back, hitting them in the one area that they look like total fools.
- Good on Bush. More. Faster please.
- I know Reid and his merry gang of appeasers are angry and petulant, like little children, after losing two major elections in a row. But when he says the pres. is using his position “not as a bullhorn, but a bully pulpit” to defend his policies, Harry is standing in bulls**t up to his knee’s.
It’s all just more of the daily whine from the party of slime.
- Bang

“the daily whine from the party of slime.”
Bang…That statement is entirely appropriate.

These people are pathetic. They should remove their heads from their hindquarters and understand that people like bin Laden consider Iraq a front in their struggle. And that joker has been more upfront and credible than any of the Dem leadership. You KNOW bin Laden means what he says. The Dems are a major threat to our safety. God help us should they ever regain power before this war is won.

“Mr. Kennedy said Mr. Bush “should be ashamed of using a national day of mourning” to justify his Iraq policy,”
Good Lord that’s funny!! Kennedy telling somebody, or ANYBODY for that matter, that they should be ashamed!!!!
Oh, my sides!!!!

1. If Bush says anything about terrorism, the left will call it an extreme partisan, political speech.
2. Bush is a politician, as is Reid, Kennedy, etcetera; so by definition everything they say is political in nature. Omigod! I am shocked, stunned and amazed a politician would say something political.
3. Gregory at the White House News Conference today demonstrated what a horse’s ass he really is, by being exceedingly rude to Tony Snow!

Gregory is a jealous hack who is alway rude to any Press Secretary the President has had, he is so lame.

Also, I awake today, Wed., to msnbc saying that a part of Iraq, Anbar province, is almost totally lost to us by the insurgents, and the chick broadcaster said it with glee. Seems a Marine colonel made this statement but came back with we don’t need more troops deal, I’m getting sick of these leaked comments, its like they NEVER get the troops they need, like Bush would let em twist in the wind. The lame stream media is gonna be in full mode since abc’s path presentation, look to doom and gloom outta Iraq till the midterms on a DAILY, hell, BY A SECOND TO SECOND BASIS, they’ve gotta help thier base out.

Drewsmom,
This Anbar province stuff is from Olbermann last night. The MSM is in full gear thinking they have found something they can use. Although I know nothing about Anbar province at this point, I have a feeling when all the details are revealed, that this will be another witch hunt by the democrats/lame stream media.

I might be suffering from MSM derangement syndrome. But I’m sorry, they continually seek to mislead thier viewers to score political points against our president. They have cried Wolf every minute of the day since George Bush won the election in 2000.

Yes. Won the election…
