Now why does this not surprise me?
Back in Tennessee on Tuesday, Gore told a crowd of about 50 people at the U.S. Media Ethics Summit II that the presentation’s single most provocative slide was one that contrasts results of two long-term studies. A 10-year University of California study found that essentially zero percent of peer-reviewed scientific journal articles disagreed that global warming exists, whereas, another study found that 53 percent of mainstream newspaper articles disagreed the global warming premise.
He noted that recently the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released its fourth unanimous report calling on world leaders to take action on global warming.
“I believe that is one of the principal reasons why political leaders around the world have not yet taken action,” Gore said. “There are many reasons, but one of the principal reasons in my view is more than half of the mainstream media have rejected the scientific consensus implicitly — and I say ‘rejected,’ perhaps it’s the wrong word. They have failed to report that it is the consensus and instead have chosen … balance as bias.
“I don’t think that any of the editors or reporters responsible for one of these stories saying, ‘It may be real, it may not be real,’ is unethical. But I think they made the wrong choice, and I think the consequences are severe.
“I think if it is important to look at the pressures that made it more likely than not that mainstream journalists in the United States would convey a wholly inaccurate conclusion about the most important moral, ethical, spiritual and political issue humankind has ever faced.”
This is the kind of ‘balance’ Gore prefers. And this. And this. And …

And don’t forget this particular strain of “balance”.
Seriously Al, since the largest news of the last two weeks has been Anna Nicole Smith, who really cares what the media says or does. Even your oscar was just a bump compared to Smith dying.
Although it is good to see Al keeping to his nazi roots. Here we have in so many of his own words how he wants to control what the media relays to us the masses. All he forgot to say is we are starting with that conservative news channel at Fox News. These people are just pathetic. To stake so much on what might be the earth going thru cycles as the earth as been prone to do almost since creation is not very bright, IMHO – Lorica
So much nonsense, so little time. It’s getting difficult to keep up with the dizzying array of silly Gore stories. He’s completely full of it when he claims there are no peer-reviewed papers disagreeing with this fearmongering. His ridiculous schlockumentary could never withstand serious scholarly review. I know several preeminent scholars in the geoscience community who regard him as a buffoon at best and dangerously deranged.
Anyway, my two cents on things today: Environmental Hypocrites Run Amok
Jammie, please start submitting your related links as trackbacks. Thanks.
Sorry, ST. Will do.
More Gore nonsense. This is from the original article in the Nasville newspaper when the story broke:
So just for chuckles, go google Generation Ivestment Management. And you find that its chairman is – you guessed it – still Al Gore.
In other words, unless Gore is not taking a salary from GIM – which is a for-profit company – he’s buying the ‘carbon offsets’ from himself. Or, as someone more cynical might put it, he’s just reinvesting in his own company.
It seems to be sort of a money-laundering arrangement, using the skills he demonstrated so ably back in his Buddhist-monk-campaign-contribution days.
Gee, taking money out of one pocket and putting it in another and claiming to be virtuous for doing so…hypocrite and liar.
The same country that produced Henry Ford,Thomas Edison,George Westinghouse, and many others, somehow produces a non-fictional “Elmer Gantrey”, who uses the inventions of the last two centuries to travel the globe trying to sell junk science that would send us back to the days of sail! Al Gore, you are living proof that anyone can succeed in America, inventors and deconstructors!
Since when does fifty constitute a crowd?
If one were to deduct the reporters, I teach that many in a single class. Shoot, if one were to deduct the reporters, the truth might have a chance at getting out.
The last sentence in the Tennessean pretty much says it all, doesn’t it?
“Gore would not answer any questions from the media after the event.”
After questioning the media, he proves what a hypocrical boob he is by NOT taking ANY questions from same.
Yesterday I was wondering whether ‘crime offsets’ were next, so that the likes of Sandy Burglar could continue to steal government secrets if he made donations to the local PBA.
I was wrong. There’s another one already in place. One that Bill Clinton might want to take advantage of.
Take a look.
Barbra Streisand is another proponent of environmentalism, yet she drives an SUV, lives in a mansion and has a $22,000 annual water bill. In the past, she has driven to appointments in Beverly Hills in a motor home because of her aversion to using public bathrooms.
