Gore’s appearing on Capitol Hill today to lend his ‘expertise’ on the global warming issue (I erred earlier in the week when I said he was testifying on Monday) and it looks like Special Al, who was already given special treatment by the EPW Committee, has violated their trust by violating one of their rules:
Gore first demanded to be granted an unprecedented 30 minute opening statement to the Senate EPW Committee for Wednesday’s (March 21) global warming hearing scheduled for 2:30 pm ET.
(See “FULL COMMITTEE: Vice President Al Gore’s Perspective on Global Warming” )The GOP minority on the EPW committee agreed to the 30 minute opening statement.
But then Gore demanded a waiver of the EPW committee’s 48 hour rule that requires all witnesses before EPW to submit their testimony in advance. The GOP minority on the EPW committee then agreed to waive the 48 hour rule in favor of allowing Gore to submit his testimony 24 hours before the hearing.
But in a breaking news development on Capitol Hill — the former Vice President has violated the new 24 hour deadline extension by failing to submit his testimony – even with the new time extension granted to Gore.
As of 8pm ET Tuesday evening, the testimony still has not been received by EPW, a clear violation of committee rules.
The word on Capitol Hill says not to expect Gore’s testimony to the Senate EPW committee until Wednesday (March 21) — the day of the hearing.
It appears that Gore does not believe the same rules apply to him that apply to every other Senate EPW witness.
The question looms on Capitol Hill: Is Gore delaying the submission of his testimony until the very last moment because he fears it will give members of the EPW committee time to scrutinize it for accuracy?
Stay tuned…
Maybe in order to further accomodate Mr. Oscar-winner, they can provide him with two chairs to sit in. The other one will be for his gigantic ego, which has proved to be much more of a pressing issue than ‘global warming.’

He’s gonna make you see,
there’s nobody else there, no one like G.
He’s speshul. So speshul.
Update I: Allah let’s you know what to expect this morning from the Goracle and points out the Gore was/is late for his appearance. You can watch Gore today on CSPAN 3.
Bonus: Bryan Preston blogs about the possibility that the sun (gasp!) might be the reason for the climate change.
Update II: Some of Powerline’s readers have been liveblogging the Goracle today. You can check out the running commentary here.
Update III: I was just listening to a bit of Rush during my lunch hour and he played a clip of someone on this morning’s committee actually calling Gore a prophet (sound familiar?). He also played another clip of Gore tearing up when talking about what future generations of suffering children would be saying about us and why we ‘did nothing’ about gw. Gag!

Gore is doing everything he can to try and derail this hearing and make it impossible for them to ask him difficult questions. Just wait and see, when the questions get tough, he’ll whine, and do the typical liberal technique of criticizing the questioner rather than answering the question, or will just get up in a huff and walk out. And his minions on the Democrat side on the panel will support and aid this disinformation campaign to the full extent of their ability. The script for this has already been implemented and tested with Clinton in the Wallace interview.

I happen to agree with you on all comments as well as that the gore-science is just really bad. But hey, all that aside, I think it would be cool if ALL the energy the WORLD is taking arguing about who is right and wrong about this were channeled in a different direction. I mean, I think we all would like the enivornment we live in to be nice, regardless of how we think on this matter, and we have the technology and energy to do it … it’s just going to take a cultural change .. to have embeded our enfironment in our thinking .. will probebly take decades but I for one would love to start the change. ognow

Why would the moron need 30 minutes to apologize for being such a consummate liar as he is? But then there’s a breakfast cereal called *Total* which is less so……..

We do?
Be careful, I’m not an idiot here.
BTW, I think it would be helpful to embed in your thinking that 99.99% of people “care” about the environment. It came across in your post that you think that we don’t “care”. The key to the question is whether it is “crisis” or something that needs to cost people loads of money and the solutions being implemented or discussed are leftist big government solutions that would hurt more people and create mor poverty.

I wish someone would explain to me what “Alternative energy” is. Having been in the automotive field most of my life, I’m sure I could whip-up an external-combustion engine that would run on anything from trans-fats from the take-out to Algore’s used socks, but it might be on the heavy side, and wouldn’t pass any states environmental standards, unless I had clout with the insiders!

Based upon his act before the congress this morning, it would appear that Algore still needs a controlling legal authority. Charlatans like him have been around for centuries -he’s nothing special in that respect. False prophets are best ignored.

Tom TB, I had a comment on that a couple of days ago. Some of Gore’s allies are now saying the alternative technologies must come from extraterrestrials.
They think E.T. is not only going to phone home, he’s going to show us how to power the phone in a carbon-neutral way.

Sure he didn’t mean “profit”, considering his corporate ties to the global warming industry?

GWR, I’m gearing up a tread-mill to run on ETs, now if only I could catch a few of those elusive critters…
