He wanted to do it back in March of 2006, and now wants to try again:

WASHINGTON - Liberal Democratic Sen. Russ Feingold said Sunday he wants Congress to censure President Bush for his management of the Iraq war and his “assault” against the Constitution.

But Feingold’s own party leader in the Senate showed little interest in the idea. An attempt in 2006 by Feingold to censure Bush over the warrantless spying program attracted only three co-sponsors.

Feingold, a prominent war critic, said he soon plans to offer two censure resolutions — measures that would amount to a formal condemnation of the Republican president.

The first would seek to reprimand Bush for, as Feingold described it, getting the nation into war without adequate military preparation and for issuing misleading public statements. The resolution also would cite Vice President Dick Cheney and perhaps other administration officials.

The second measure would seek to censure Bush for what the Democrat called a continuous assault against the rule of law through such efforts as the warrantless surveillance program against suspected terrorists, Feingold said. It would also ask for a reprimand of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and maybe others.

“This is an opportunity for people to say, let’s at least reflect on the record that something terrible has happened here,” said Feingold, D-Wis. “This administration has weakened America in a way that is frightful.”

Feingold’s press release is here.

The people who have weakened America “in a way that is frightful” are Bush-hating Democrats like Russ Feingold and other clueless wonders in Congress who continue to treat the President as the enemy in the war on terror, rather than Al Qaeda, by using threats for impeachment or censure, along with issuing symbolic ‘votes’ against the President’s policies - votes which hold no weight other than appeasing their moonbat base - in an attempt to weaken the President’s ability to prosecute the war on terror with the tools he has at his disposal as Commander in Chief to do so. Why are they doing this? Not because they care about the ‘rights’ of Americans, but because they want to get re-elected, and they know the surest way to make this happen is to distort what the President has done the last 7 years not as measures used to try and protect this country from another terrorist attack, but instead as a way of becoming a dictator who wants to steal all your rights under the banner of ‘protecting’ you.

It’s pathetic, and shameful and any Democrat supporter who is on board with this line of thinking is just as pathetic and just as shameful for aiding and encouraging this type of demagoguery from their representatives. These types of Democrats love to use the quote “dissent is the highest form of patriotism” (which is NOT a quote from Thomas Jefferson, BTW)- maybe so, but dissent being patriotic is one thing … stupidity, however, is not patriotic.

The far left’s demand for impeachment proceedings against Pres. Bush has been loud, insistent and ignored. Democrat officials know that such an action would make what is already a bad situation for them, far, far worse. The first problem? No…

  1. If I remember correctly the Democratic Senate voted to give Bush authority to go into Iraq and the former president, a Democrat, made the removal of Saddam from power our national policy. Now I realize that these guys are doing what is expedient, but if they want to be consistent, shouldn’t they vote to censure themselves as well?

    The morons.

  2. Terrye your memory doesn’t serve you very well at all. No Democratic president made it national policy to invade and occupy Iraq. And where do you get off criticizing anyone for consistency? Even Dick Cheney knew attacking Baghdad would lead to a quagmire in 1991. You have cretins like Bond who claim the surge is the new magic key to winning in Iraq while expecting us to forget he said the same thing about every stupid move the incompetents Bush and Cheney have made since 2003. It still works with a dwindling few of the memory impaired like you but for most of America? Nope.
Occupying Iraq isn’t the solution, it’s the problem.

  4. No Democratic president made it national policy to invade and occupy Iraq.

    Wrong!!

Regime change in Iraq was standard US policy for Iraq as of 1998. President Clinton asked for the authority and given it by Congress. Or was this just another Monica Diversion?? Whatever, it doesn’t matter. It was US policy to oust Saddamn after years of ignoring the surrender agreement and kicking out the weapons inspectors. If we “Rushed” to war, it was the shortest 5 year rush in the history of mankind. - Lorica

    A little tidbit:

We were greatly encouraged by your decision last October to sign the Iraq Liberation Act, which established as an objective of U.S . foreign policy the removal of the Saddam Hussein regime, and we welcomed your pledge last November 15th to work with Congress to implement the Act. We were also pleased with the execution of Operation Desert Fox last December, and the continued commitment of your Administration following the conclusion of that Operation to fully enforce the no- fly zones over northern and southern Iraq.

Well there it is, in Grey and Black, As of October 1998, it was US Foreign policy to Remove Saddam Hussein. Thanks for your input mark but like most libs, youse wrong again. - Lorica
