No, Randi Rhodes was not attacked by a fanatical “Reich winger”

The liberal blog Talking Radio reported the following this morning:

Randi Rhodes was mugged on Sunday night on 39th Street and Park Ave, nearby her Manhattan apartment, while she was walking her dog Simon.

According to Air America Radio late night host Jon Elliott, Rhodes was beaten up pretty badly, losing several teeth and will probably be off the air for at least the rest of the week. At of late Monday night we have not able to locate any press accounts of the attack and nothing has been posted on the AAR website.

Several liberal blogs, including the Randi Rhodes Message Board and Democratic Underground have logged numerous posts on the Rhodes mugging with most of the posters expressing concern about the condition of the popular lib talker.

As you can imagine, the usual suspects lined up today to insinuate she was a victim of “Reich wing hate.” Air America host Jon Elliott himself deliberately fueled the fire with these comments:

“Is this an attempt by the right-wing, hate machine to silence one of our own?” he asked on the air, according to Talking Radio, a blog. “Are we threatening them? Are they afraid that we’re winning? Are they trying to silence intimidate us?”

Problem is, no such “attack” happened:

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan’s 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.

Rhodes’ lawyer told the Daily News she was injured in a fall while walking her dog. He said she’s not sure what happened, and only knows that she fell down and is in a lot of pain. The lawyer said Rhodes expects to be back on the air Thursday. He stressed there is no indication she was targeted or that she was the victim of a “hate crime.”

“Hate crime”?? So I guess liberals have officially added themselves to the list of groups who they believe should get special protections via hate crime laws? I thought that was only reserved for minority/”victim” groups?

I swear, you cannot parody these people sometimes.

Oh, and for those genius liberals who read this and think “bbbut, as a woman, she’s a minority who should be protected by hate crime laws,” remember, hate crimes involve being targeted specifically because you are part of a minority/”victim” group, not because you are a moronic liberal.

You wait. Next they’ll be raving that the police report was destroyed, and that her lawyer is either part of the conspiracy, or he denied she was attacked because he fears the “reich wingers” will come after him and his family next.

    Linky

Randi Rhodes was no more assaulted by a right-wing fanatic on Monday than Dick Cheney was. She, in fact, fell down and injured her teeth outside of a Midtown Irish bar at around 6 o’clock Sunday evening after downing about fourteen Ketel One Bloody Marys. She was abusive to the barstaff and generally gross, crass, loud, and pretentious. I genuinely hope she has a speedy recovery. I never would’ve disclosed this (I believe that anyone should feel free to hang out at Irish pubs at any time and not be concerned about someone publishing their behavior) if Air America hadn’t grossly interpreted a drunken indiscretion and allowed it to be morphed into some bullish rhetoric on air. Whatever journalistic integrity the station may have ever had is now completely compromised. The manipulation of the public diminishes any cause, whether just or fabricated.

The left’s massive paranoia stems directly from their collective narcissism. This is the same thing as the idiotic story where demonstrators were claiming that giant mechanical dragon flies were spying on them, and they couldn’t be real insects but evil Pentagon mechanical drones. It’s all about meeeeee! I’m so important that they are spying on meeeeee! They are out to get MEEEEEE! What a combination, narcissism and paranoia. 8-|

    Fourteen Bloody Mary’s ??? <:-p

Heck, that amount would cause even an experienced Kennedy to wreck a car!#-o

Good thing she did not get behind the wheel.#:-s

Well, the vicious right wing assault fits the narrative. It’s just that the darned facts don’t fit the narrative.

So what are you going to believe? The truth, or the narrative? If you’re a lefty there’s no question – the former is just a construct of the patriarchy, but in the latter, Amerikkka is still a hatefilled misogynistic theocratic dictatorship, in which the Duke lacrosse players are STILL GUILTY!!!! Oh, and Bush stole the 2000 election. And, uh, he went to war in Iraq either for the oil or to resolve his daddy issues. Plus, he wanted to serve plastic turkey to the racist baby killing neanderthal thug troops, whom we support. Plus, the media leans right and Al Gore is a saint, that is he would be if religion had any meaning.

In other words, just like when she’s on the air. :d

  6. Terry Ott says:

Well, this is the most coverage Air America has had in a while. Probably since their 3rd or 4th bankruptcy rumor.

I guess there’s no such thing as a “bad ad” as long as people are talking about your product in some way.

Randi Rhodes on the radio is like chalk scratching on the blackboard, physically on the ears as well as mentally on the brain. After her accident of falling down and breaking teeth on a NYC sidewalk, she owed her (albeit nutty) listeners the decency and honesty to tell the truth about her drunkenness. I’m not sure what it points out, but liberals like Ted Kennedy, his Congressman nephew, Randi Rhodes, etc aren’t honest about their drinking problems, but conservatives who’ve had problems, like Glenn Beck and Rush are not only honest, they actually overcame the problems.

  8. Severian says:

This is one of the best things I’ve seen so far dealing with the nutroots immediate descent into insanity, and their continued belief in a conspiracy even after being told she fell all by herself. The take away quote is:

There is, however, something bigger going on here, encapsulated in the determination of Rhodes’ fans, against all facts to the contrary, to hold-tight to the pipe dream of right-wing fanatics hiring Blackwater agents to beat her as she walked her dog: They so wish it were true. As with global warming alarmism, these sorts of messianic martyr fantasies about neo-Nazi conspirators aligned against liberals’ salvation program for the masses are delusions designed to assure people clearly desperate for meaning in their lives that they are historically significant figures living in historically significant times. History, sadly, is not made within the virtual walls of online echo chambers.

It’s too bad the woman fell and hurt herself, if she did break out some teeth that has to hurt like the dickens. And I’m not going to fault her too much if she did fall after a drunken bout at an Irish pub, having been known to leave a similar local establishment in fine form from time to time in my youth. But damn people, step away from the bong and look at the facts before you start with the VRWC stuff, it makes you look as nutty as you undoubtedly are. ;)

14 Bloody Mary’s, gets you a bloodier lip.

Here is a joke… Ted Kennedy walks out of an Irish bar.

  10. Severian says:

Don’t you mean Ted Kennedy staggers out of an Irish bar, and climbs into an Oldsmobile? ;)

  11. Leslie says:

14 Bloody Mary’s? Then Ms. Rhodes ought to be dead of alcohol poisoning.

Or: does that pub water the drinks?

    \:d/

  12. Lorica says:

Leslie that isn’t true, if she were a alcoholic she could easily down those in a period of 4 hours and just be drunk. My Grandfather would go thru a 12 pack of beer and a 5th of whiskey in an afternoon and not die and he did that the majority of his life.

Why do you think she wanted this hushed up??

A police source said Rhodes never filed a report and never claimed to be the victim of a mugging. Cops from Manhattan’s 17th Precinct called her attorney, who told them Rhodes was not a victim of a crime, the source said.

Seems to me that she doesn’t want people to know she is an alcoholic. Which if she is explains her constant hatred. I have never been able to listen to this woman for more than 2 minutes and after trying a few times I couldn’t see a reason to continue to torture myself. This doesn’t come as a surprise to me in all honesty. People who hate this much are usually hooked to some sort of crutch to see them thru life. – Lorica

  13. Steve Skubinna says:

Come on, Lorica, if you bore the wieght of the world’s hopes to depose the evil war criminal Bush you’d want a quick snort now and then. She needs all the support she can get, what with all that Speaking Truth To Power and Standing Up To The Man.

  14. Leslie says:

    Thank you, Lorica.

    I stand corrected.

  15. Lorica says:

Leslie all I am saying is that you have no idea. If this woman is an alcoholic she could easily go thru that much liquor and not be dead. You can grow a tolorance to many poisons, alcohol included. I am not trying to correct you, I am just trying to point out the possiblity that this woman is a long term alcoholic and that she might need more help that she is going to get otherwise. – Lorica

  16. Lorica says:

I totally agree with you Steve. It takes liquor to do the right thing all the time, it is just that hard to do. =))

The only leftie in recent history who “spoke truth to power” was the President of Columbia and look at the flack he took. Randi Rhodes is just another deceived “intellectual” who believes she knows better how to run our lives that we do. With this news of her alcoholism that is obviously untrue. – Lorica
