I opted to watch the two wildcard playoff games last night, but thankfully Michelle Malkin liveblogged both the Dem and Republican debates that were held in New Hampshire yesterday evening, just three days before the New Hampshire primaries. To get a good feel for what happened at both debates, make sure to visit those two links.
The big story of the night appears to be Hillary’s “debate moment” in which she got really angry with Obama. The video exchange is here.
Ross Douthat at the Atlantic and Mickey Kaus both think the reaction to her anger is an unfair and sexist double standard, and that men getting testy like that during a debate wouldn’t get near the attention her anger has gotten. I think the criticism of her anger has very little to do with the fact that she’s a woman and a whole lot to do with people reacting to the American public getting a glimpse of who the real Hillary Clinton actually is. Not the warm, personable “everywoman” she wants people to believe she is, but instead a cold, calculating, and controlling figure whose every move is scripted for public consumption, who – among other things – has proven time and time again how she can’t “take the heat” her opponents give her and choosing to blame legitimate criticism and scrutiny of her record on the “boys club” and rather than taking responsiblity for her failures, has her husband blame the MSM for her inability to wage an effective campaign.
This is the second time in three months that the public has gotten a glimpse into how Hillary reacts when her veneer cracks. Would that they understand that the alternatives to Hillary on the Dem side – Obama and Edwards – are no better and, frankly, have no business trying to lead this country, and via extension the rest of the free world, at a time when it needs continued strength and determination in the face of a vicious enemy, rather than hollow promises about “hope” and “change.”
The “top tier” in the Democratic party is, sadly, indicative of the pathetic state of the Democratic party today. The new perceived Dem frontrunner, Barack Obama, is little more than an inexperienced empty suit who is very good at winning gullible people over with impassioned platitudes, John Edwards is probably one of the biggest phonies ever to hold political office, while Hillary Clinton is the closest thing this country has seen to a Socialist running for president in quite some time, whose warmth in toto wouldn’t fill up a thimble, and whose ruthlessnes only extends to her political enemies, not the bigger enemies we face in the form of Islamofascism.
/Sunday rant over.

I wrote this in another thread, but it’s worth repeating.
Obama said that the democrats were the reason things turned around in Iraq. He claims that when the dems won in 2006, the Iraqis feared a U.S. pullout so they began “stepping up” and taking control. It had nothing to do with the surge, it was the dems victory in 2006 that helped lower the violence in Iraq.
Unbelievable.
I predicted something similar to come out of the Dems a while back, but I didn’t nail it right. I predicted that they’d claim that the sudden wave of support and cooperation from the Iraqi’s was due to the fact that their constant bleating about wanting to withdraw convinced the Iraqi’s that we really didn’t want to occupy them and that that made them realize this and decide to support us. Equally delusional to what Obama said, but not exactly right.
Still, I thought for sure they’d try to claim credit somehow.
NC Cop: I hadn’t heard Obama make that statement. But if so, it would appears he’s got some talented spinmeisters on his staff, neh?
Jeepers, Sis! That was a mean rant! LOL
Can we assume you were pulling for Pittsburgh or Washington in the playoff games?
Tango, I just turned on the debate for one minute and it when Obama was making the statement. I couldn’t believe my ears!!
I watched the clip twice, and I’m not sure what the big deal was. She was clearly annoyed, yes, but I thought her manner could be more accurately described as forceful – defintely not an out-of-control meltdown.
That’s just her delivery, of course. The content is another story. All the horse hockey about taking credit for healing all the sick children in New Hampshire, and about being an instrument of change for 35 years – well, by now you know Hillary and Veracity are not on speaking terms, and never have been.
If that is anger than I don’t know how to be mad properly. That answer was more of the canned BS that she has been giving everyone since well forever. Interesting how she brings up the SCHIP program, which started while she was 1st Lady, and then brings up something that had “bi-partisan” support. Well yippie skippy Hitlery, if it had bi-partisan support then why are you taking credit for it. Also, if she has had 35 years of making changes happen, why does she only talk about the last 10 years??
I do agree with Sis, ok no surprise that, but this isn’t anger, it is her cold calculating give the people what they want to hear garbage. It isn’t like she hasn’t been hearing what these guys have been saying about her all along. She was just waiting for a chance and then took the shot. The more I think on this, the more it reminds me of Bill taking Chris Wallace to task with his “right wing hit piece”. Same finger pointing same me me me. I would love to see those videos side by side. – Lorica
When a candidate gets testy and snarky in a nationally televised debate they had better be telling the truth. The fact is that Mrs. Clinton’s entire hissy fit was a lie. She had nothing to do with S-CHIP. She claims to an agent of change, but she can cite no record of change.
While her husband, B.J. is smooth liar, Mrs. Clinton is just a shrill liar.
Also, how is more government buearcracy actual change??? We all know as soon as the Government gets involved in anything nothing but chaos ensues. Social Security, Welfare, Medicare, are any of those up to what they were promised?? Infact Social Security has been nothing but a big money fount for Congress almost from the onset. I remember in the 80s how it was “overfunded”. Guess someone lied, probably the Democrat Congress since they constantly raided it. If Hitlery has been an agent of change, the majority of that change has been bad.
I heard recently Rush talking about the 1986 amnesty bill. Do you all realize that Reagan agreed to that on the promise of secured borders?? Seems to me that they were trying to pull the wool over our eyes again with this last near amnesty bill and secured borders. Well happily history isn’t going to repeat itself. Secure the borders NOW!! That should be our cry to every candidate. – Lorica again
Hillary spent 35 years giving you change, when what you really wanted was folding money!
The only thing I can figure that Hillary has done for the last 35 years is to stand in for Monica!
