Barack Obama raises $9 million at glitzy Hollywood fundraiser

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on September 17, 2008 at 9:22 am

just hours after he accused Senator McCain of being out of touch with middle class America during challenging economic times.

Chutzpah, anyone? Blogger Richard Horton at BCB’s blog quipped in the comments section:

Maybe Hollywood needs community organizing too?

Heh.

On a more serious note, Fausta rips Barry Oh! here.

Where was John McCain, meanwhile? Speaking to working class Americans in Vienna, Ohio. I think the contrast would make an excellent campaign ad. Showing Obama mingling with the Hollywood elite in the big city while McCain talks to blue collar voters in a small Ohio town, while in the background playing Obama’s quote about McCain supposedly not understanding the concerns of average Americans.

Was having to sit through Babs’ serenade worth it, O-man?

If this economy is so bad then why is Barry raising so much money????

Also, I would like to add a comment about Madam Pelosi saying that the downturn in the economy isn’t her fault. BULL!!! Once you door bells took over there has been nothing but bad economic news, and all you idiots have done is try to impeach President Bush. Even now they know the fastest and best way to lower fuel prices is to increase suppy of oil and gas, and they do nothing. Hey Nancy, de-Nile is also a river in Egypt.

There are alot of good things that are going to happen in this election as long as Republican’s don’t screw it up that is. Good luck that. – Lorica

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for the 1,406 people who lost much of their life savings when Superior Bank of Chicago went belly up in 2001 with over $1 billion in insured and uninsured deposits. This collapse came amid harsh criticism of how Superior’s owners promoted sub-prime home mortgages. As part of a settlement, the owners paid $100 million and agreed to pay another $335 million over 15 years at no interest.

The uninsured depositors were dealt another blow recently when the U.S. Supreme Court let stand a lower court decision to put any recovered money toward the debt that the bank owners owe the federal government before the depositors get anything.

But this seven-year-old bank failure has relevance in another way today, since the chair of Superior’s board for five years was Penny Pritzker, a member of one of America’s richest families and the current Finance Chair for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama, the same candidate who has lashed out against predatory lending.

    Cafferty: Obama: Race a factor?
    Posted: 01:59 PM ET
    From CNN’s Jack Cafferty

Will race be the factor that keeps Obama from the White House?
Race is arguably the biggest issue in this election, and it’s one that nobody’s talking about.

I would like to disgree with this. Race is being talked about, Barry and his cohorts in the drive by media yak about it all the time. Right Jack. What is up with all of this white guilt BS?? These types of articles only reveal that the “elites” in the media are riddled with guilt. – Lorica

Particularly relevant to the Streisand bash is this version of some of the tunes: McCain sings Streisand.

It’s from his SNL appearance earlier this year. :d

    Hey, look, irony!

“It’s from his SNL appearance earlier this year.”

I saw some of that on Special Report on FOX. The funny thing is, McCain does it better than Babs. But, then again, my cat can sing better than Mecha-Streisand.
