The Goracle: Just one more on a long list of disrespectful far left jerks

I know the meaning of the thread title is obvious to us all, but it’s never been more painfully clear as it has been made today via a story by Michael Daly from the NY Daily News. Daly wrote:

With Al Gore in the news for battling global warming and Al Gore 3rd in the news for getting toasted, my favorite NYPD detective recalled a story that helps explain how father and son each became a particular kind of loser.

The story was told to the detective by a Secret Service agent some years back as they worked security for a dignitary visiting New York. Such details largely consist of just standing there for as long as 12 hours and the talk turned to a day when the Secret Service agent was assigned to then-Vice President Gore.

The detective recalls the agent saying that he was outside a room where Gore was loudly berating Al 3rd for something to do with school. The agent then overheard the senior Gore say to his son something truly stunning.

“What, do you want to end up like those guys standing outside the door?”

The guys being the agent and his partners, highly trained and intensely dedicated individuals who remain ever-ready to take a bullet for whomever they are assigned to protect.

You would think that such selfless and motivated people would be perfect role models for a teenager having a little trouble staying on track.

Add that to Senator John Kerry’s use of an expletive during the 2004 campaign season to describe a Secret Service agent who he claimed “knocked him over” on a ski slope, and Senator Hillary Clinton’s genuine hate for the military, Secret Service … it’s one of those things you read about that makes you sick to your stomach, especially considering how well-respected these disrespectful fruitcakes really are amongst the ‘elite.’

You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat people who are trained to take a bullet for them – whether they are protecting the person directly or not.

This, more than any other reason, is why I don’t want Hillary Clinton as our Commander in Chief. She has long despised the military and Secret Service and if she were to be elected president, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a staggering number of resignations/retirements from the military. They know.

If that’s how they treat members of the military and Secret Service, just imagine what lovely people they must be the the average serving person. I’d hate to wait tables for them, I bet they stiff the waitress/waiter on the tip every time. I’ve heard that Republicans usually tip much better than Democrats, even the web sites that exist to talk about such things say this. Guess elitism runs in the Democrat party.

Environmental Activism Sparked by Tragedy

On April 3, 1989, then-Sen. Albert Gore, Jr. and his son, Albert Gore III, were leaving the Baltimore Orioles opening day baseball game when, according to news reports, Albert III “let go of his father’s hand” and darted into the street near Memorial Stadium. Albert III was hit by a car and injured severely with broken bones, ruptured spleen, bruised lung and concussion.

The driver of the car, Jasper McWilliams reportedly was not speeding and the police did not charge him at that time.

The accident was understandably distressing to Gore, but his behavior in its aftermath was curious. In his son’s hospital room, the elder Gore began writing his well-known book and environmental call-to-arms “Earth in the Balance.”

Gore wrote, “For me something changed in a fundamental way. I don’t think my son’s brush with death was solely responsible, although that was the catalyst. But I had also just lost a presidential campaign; moreover, I had just turned 40 years old. I was, in a sense, vulnerable to the change that sought me out in the middle of my life and gave me a new sense of urgency about those things I value the most.”

Albert III’s accident spurred Gore’s now famous activism on the “rapidly deteriorating global environment,” a battle which Gore wrote includes “completely eliminating the internal combustion engine over, say, a 25-year period” and “embarking on an all-out effort to use every policy and program, every law and institution, every treaty and alliance, every tactic and strategy, every plan and course of action — to use, in short, every means to halt the destruction of the environment and to preserve and nurture our ecological system.”

The fact that a car accident precipitated a call to eliminate the internal combustion engine is bizarre enough, but it’s not the end of the unusual events following the accident.

A week after the accident, blame for the accident somehow got displaced. McWilliams was suddenly charged with speeding and failing to exercise proper precaution upon seeing a child in the road.

He was tried in Baltimore District Court in July 1989. McWilliams was acquitted of all charges, leaving Gore, as the parent holding his child’s hand while crossing the road, with responsibility for the accident.

But why did Gore, a powerful Democrat, allow Baltimore City, a Democratic stronghold, to prosecute McWilliams at all?

Insights to Character

In the end, John and Reve Walsh decided not to blame others for their tragic circumstances or place fresh burdens on society. Instead they took action that has helped others with a life-and-death matter; the disappearance of their children.

By contrast, innocent parties were blamed in the cases of Gore and Sanders. In Gore’s case, he actually allowed an innocent man to be criminally prosecuted. Worse yet, Gore and Sanders exploited their tragedy to boost their public images and careers, and shape controversial public policy debates, despite the irrelevance to those debates of their personal experiences.

Gore and Sanders both failed to safeguard their children. They should not be judged too harshly as such momentary lapses can happen to anyone. But they should be judged harshly for displacing blame and exploiting personal tragedies.

When possible, we should work to make the best of personal tragedy. What that “best” is may provide unique insight into our characters.

As we’ve discussed before, character is important, and the above is illustrative of character or the lack thereof.

As a recently retired E-7, I can tell you that I was very satisfied to have retired under a Commander-in-Chief that truly appreciates and respects the military. And you are correct, many of my friends approaching retirement eligibility see the writing on the wall and are planning on calling it a career soon (contrary to popular MSM reporting a majority of AD personnel are right leaning). Fortunatly, I only served under one liberal, DOD despising President. I feel for those troops that will have to deal with the potential of sHillary being CINC!!!

Tragedy Sparked by Environmental Activism…there-fixed it.

Short story of a boy, a balloon, a passing car, two shrieking women and what would prove to be a healthy fear of disobeying yours truly, by a boy now a man in his late twenty’s.

An outing to the Seattle Center many, many years ago with my ex-wife and her sisters two kids nearly ended before it began, when Jessie at age four chased his *get away* balloon between to parked cars and was about to dart into traffic.

The young mothers began yelling at him when he wanted to take his balloon from the van with him but soon gave up the fight with him, as no did not mean no. Naturally, he lets it go and began to chase the unleashed balloon down the sidewalk, which sets off the shrieking mommies again. I wondered why they were screaming at him this time and turned from locking the doors to see him and the balloon getting drawn into oncoming traffic, as he disappeared between the front of my van and the car parked ahead.

I barked his name out once and he froze, then he burst into tears as the car sped by taking the object of his affection with it. Jessie’s mom kept on with her bellering and Jessie with his bawling, the driver kept driving and not a single thanks from a solitary soul. Nor did I require one, but it would indicate an acknowledgment of what just happened and hopefully learned.

There are so many things that are representative of what our society has devolved into based on that incident, that would require more time and a different thread to analyze them adequately.

I liked the story on Kerry. He said he doesn’t fall down. It was someone else’s fault. He has a very egotistical view of himself.

The Secret Service, the Capitol Police, and local police details aren’t there just protecting a specific official or candidate; they are protecting our rights as voters in a democracy. That Gore would have such disdain for them is appalling, but perhaps the logical response of the son of Al Gore senior.

I’ve read about this story before. It certainly tells us alot about how they feel about military/police. Hillary is even worse.

But remember, they care about the little guy and those serving our nation.
