Big news: Rudy Giuliani admitted to the hospital with “flu-like” symptons

The AP reports:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) – Republican Rudy Giuliani was admitted to a hospital Wednesday night for flu-like symptoms, his campaign said.

The former New York City mayor felt the symptoms while campaining for the Republican presidential nomination in Missouri, and they soon became worse, campaign spokeswoman Katie Levinson said. The mayor decided to go to a St. Louis hospital and spend the night there, she said.

“The symptoms worsened as the day wore on and shortly after taking off from Chesterfield, Missouri, for New York the mayor became uncomfortable enough that our plane returned to the airport in Chesterfield,” Levinson said. “To be on the safe side, the mayor consulted with his personal physician in New York and made the decision to go to the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for routine tests.”

I’m by no means trying to make light of Mr. Giuliani’s condition, but I swear sometimes the way the mediots report every little move the candidates make drives me crazy. So he has flu-like symptoms? Uh, so do a lot of other Americans this time of the year. Sheesh.

Heck, I’m still sick right now. Thank goodness I’m not running for president, or I’d have people falling all over me, too.

Come to think of it, depending on the people, that might not be a bad situation to be in ;)

Seriously, I’ve got the congestion that sometimes lingers after a cold has passed, and it is whipping me. During the day I can manage, but at night when the congestion settles while you sleep, the morning can be a PITA.

Back to Rudy, who was endorsed by Missouri Senator Kit Bond yesterday, he’s got more to worry about than just those flu-like symptons right now. A new national poll is showing Rudy tied with Romney, just six weeks after he had double digit leads over all his opponents. With roughly two weeks to go before the primaries/caucuses kick off, he better hope he gets well soon so he can get back out on the campaign trail again.
