CBS4Denver reports on how while TeamÂ Obama claimed to the public thatÂ tickets to his concert, er, acceptance speech were free, privately some were being sold in exchange for campaign cash:
Two known Democratic supporters are outraged at their own party after being solicited to buy tickets to Barack Obama’s acceptance speech at Invesco Field next Thursday, CBS4 reports.Â The seats were distributed for free to the general public.
One source directed CBS4 to an unpublicized part of the Obama campaign’s Web site where Democratic supporters, reportedly with deep pockets, could buy tickets for $1,000 each. The source told CBS4 he was solicited three times to buy the tickets through the Web site.
One source said it was unethical and being kept secret from the public.
CBS4 was able to find the Web site only by directly typing in the URL provided by the source. While CBS4 attempted to contact the Obama campaign about the selling of tickets, the pay-for-tickets page was changed to say no more tickets were available.
A spokeswoman for the Obama campaign called CBS4 before deadline Tuesday night to say it was proud of the success in opening the event free to the public. She said only a small percentage of the 75,000 tickets were sold to raise money for the Obama campaign.

If anyone wonders why Obama has gone into free fall this summer, this provides an easy explanation. Obama had no executive or military experience and no legislative track record in his three brief years in the US Senate. He sold Democrats on the notion that his New Politics would transform Washington. Since welching on his promise to remain in the public financing system, Obama has repeatedly proven that he’s nothing more than a Chicago machine pol with no particular qualifications to run a state, let alone a nation.
This massive attempt to cash in on his acceptance speech not only goes against everything he supposedly represented in the primaries, it stems from that singular betrayal on reform in June. Without that, he wouldn’t need the cash, and Obama could have appeared to be an agent of change. Instead, he now looks like someone who’s going after every last bit of cash he can find, and from anyone willing to cough it up. Obama has become the Sell-out In Chief in 60 short days.
Next thing you know, you’ll be hearing stories about Obama campaign staffers/volunteersÂ issuing free rock concert ticketsÂ in orderÂ to lure people away from watching their political opponents make a speech.Â
Oh wait – that’s already happened.
