Howie Kurtz profiles Jake Tapper
The WaPo’s indispensable media guru Howie Kurtz profiles ABC News reporter Jake Tapper in his column today, and is chock full of background info and great quotes from people who have worked with him and who have gone toe to toe with him as well. It portrays him as straight down the line, about as neutral as you can get, which is what we all saw last year while he (primarily) covered the Obama campaign. He won’t even vote in presidential elections anymore in an effort to maintain his neutrality.

A few readers have emailed to find out if I’m snowed in yet from the big winter storm that is blanketing parts of the east coast … the answer is no, not yet, but the snow is coming down pretty good right now. We had rain all night and gradually this afternoon it turned into a rain/freezing rain/snow mix, and now it’s just straight up snow. Look like maybe about an inch is on the ground right now, but they’re calling for more (up to as much as a 9″ inches in some areas).
Warped story of the day: Time magazine article on Pepsi and Obama
I don’t know what’s worse: The fact that Time magazine devoted an entire page to trying to determine whether Coke or Pepsi was the Obama administration’s beverage of choice, or the fact that contained within the piece was the news that Pepsi has now taken to using Obama slogans and logos as part of an advertising campaign used to demonstrate the drink’s “hipness”:
