Breaking: Helen Thomas to retire, effective immediately

Politico and several other news outlets are reporting that Helen Thomas is retiring, effective immediately. Her retirement comes in response to the universal outcry over outrageous remarks that Thomas, a longtime opinion journalist allowed to be a part of the WH press corps, made last month advocating that Jews “go back to Poland and Germany.”

The White House Correspondents’ Association had met earlier today to discuss how to handle the situation, with a ruling expected Thursday, but of course the issue becomes moot with her retirement.

Wonder how long it will take before news of a book deal w/ Thomas is announced, where she will write at length about her “persecution” over this issue?

Colonel Sartoris invented an involved tale to the effect that Miss Emily’s father had loaned money to the town, which the town, as a matter of business, preferred this way of repaying. Only a man of Colonel Sartoris’ generation and thought could have invented it, and only a woman could have believed it.

This is really happy news. This actually makes my Monday brighter. I hear birds chirping merry songs, and puffy clouds dancing in the sky. This is going to be a really great week.

As far as Dan’s post, I am confused. I think Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein would be more appropo than a Rose for Emily. – Lorica

This is on Yahoo! News now: Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said Monday that the comments were “offensive and reprehensible.”

One more slobbering lovefest “reporter” thrown under the bus.

Not after committing the indefensible, but after committing the indefensible and having it played on You Tube. Only when the admin can’t cover it up will they throw such a non-partisan under the bus.

I’m sure, with the admin’s record of bringing racial groups together and with their very public support of the Palestinians, they are very sorry to see the dean of the Arab supporters go.

Is this in line with forced retirements….they won’t back up a loyal liberal if they speak their mind. So what will they support….a lie-ridden liberal who keeps his lip zipped and does his master’s work.

I am sure Helen fell on her sword like a good old soldier. Now she can crochet shawls for the Intifada.

Now Helen just needs a gingerbread cottage where she can lure little unsuspecting tots in with candy and boil them in hot oil. That’s one scary looking old windbag. Love the closeup shot of her spewing her vile opines in that video. Makes me shudder.
