Bears at Panthers (UPDATE: PANTHERS LOSE 23-6)

Panthers logoWill it be another disappointing day for the 0-4 Carolina Panthers as they face the 3-1 Chicago Bears here at home at Panthers Stadium? The Panthers are coming off a 16-14 division loss to New Orleans in which the Cats showed a little bit of promise but came up short in the end. Chicago’s hoping to rebound from an embarassing 17-3 loss to the NY Giants.

Bears starting QB Jay Cutler is out today with a concussion, and Panthers WR Steve Smith will be sitting out this game as well because of a sprained left ankle.

The big buzz in North Carolina this week has been the return of defensive line mega-star Julius Peppers who – as we all know – is now a Bear. Will he be booed or applauded as he takes the field?

We’ll find out at game time, which is 1 PM ET. It will be broadcast on Fox.

The weather today? Supposed to be up into the low 90s. Gorgeous outside right now.

My NFL pool picks for this week: JAC, CIN, ATL, STL, IND, WASH, CAR, BAL, HOU, NO, SD, TN, SF. One game (MIN vs. NYJ) was mistakenly left off of the list.

Update – 6:48 PM: This is becoming routine, unfortunately: The Panthers lose to the Bears 23-6, and fall to 0-5.
