Left wing heartbreak: Keith Olbermann abruptly departs MSDNC

KeithO Hadn’t planned on logging back on tonight but when this story came across the wires, of course you know I had to. Media guru Howie Kurtz has the interesting backstory involving the “build up” to Olbermann’s departure from the network. Mediaite writes about the backstory as well. Suffice it to say that this had nothing to do with “right wing corporatism” or the recent Comcast takeover, contra what you will hear from outraged lefties.

I really have nothing to add to this story except: Good riddance, hateful jack a$$. And thanks for the early birthday present.

Oh, ST, don’t worry. I understand Lawrence O’Donnell is going to take Olbermann’s place, and he’s just as much an unhinged hateful leftwing jacka$$ as Keefie. For example, remember this gem of a performance?

Fear not. MSNBC has a lot of depth on their roster. They’ll hardly miss Keefie.

I probably have a lifetime total of 3 minutes watching Matthews and less watching Olbermann. Most of my knowledge of MSNBC (Olbermann and others) comes from skimming blog posts on the latest outrage. According to Drudge on 1/20 he had a million viewers, just over a third of the viewership O’Reilly had. That seems to put to lie the Beast article with its “legions” of Olbermann fans and his supporting MSNBC. From all the comments I’ve been reading, a good number of his audience were right wing bloggers just waiting for him to give them some outrage to write about.

I think the best epitaph for Olbermann is that if it weren’t for the massive news reports, very few would have noticed his passing.

Even though he will be replaced it is good to see him gone. At least that is one skidmark cleaned from the toilet which is MSNBC.

Even CNN won’t have him. Their bias is definitely toward the left, but, like NPR, they at least try to be subtle about it.
