Quote of the Day: WH @PressSec Jay Carney on Obama and “decisiveness”

Via MediaiteΒ (bolded emphasis added by me)

[Fox News senior WH reporter Ed] Henry asked Carney to respond to a criticism of the president leveled by Sen.Β Bob CorkerΒ (R-TN) who said he was β€œdisappointed” with Obama’s seeming indecisiveness on whether or not to pursue military strikes in Syria.

β€œWhen it comes to our approach to this problem in Syria, the president has been very clear about the need to respond and why it’s important that [Bashar]Β AssadΒ be held accountable,” Carney replied.

β€œI would simply say that, when it comes to being commander-in-chief, I think the American people, at least in my assessment, appreciate a commander-in-chief who takes in new information and doesn’t, you know, celebrate decisiveness for the sake of decisiveness,” Carney added.

Sometimes I feel really bad for Jay Carney – he’s probably got one of the worst, if not THE worst, job in DC what with all the dodging, weaving, spinning, and outright lying about this administration’s record, its positions on the issues, its reactions to world events, etc. Β that he is paid to do. Β But then I think about how he (along with some 14 other mainstream media journalists) sought outΒ  a position on Team Obama – in his case for Press Secretary – knowing full well and good just how much damage control he’d have to engage in on behalf of this utterly rudderless administration on a daily basis, and I no longer feel anything at all – outside of pity for the guy that his credibility, once this gig is over, may never recover outside of the DC cocktail circuit set. Β Then again, perhaps that’s all that matters. Β Oh well.
