All that happened to them for a humiliating loss in the World Cup was a trip to the mines. Now, with Pyongyang’s attempts to extort bribes at rapprochement with South Korea in tatters over the sinking of the Cheonan (Come on, what’s an act of war among friends?), the official in charge of negotiations with the South has been shot:
Michelle Malkin writes this morning about how North Korea has all but fired the first shot against South Korea – and via extension the US, abandoning the 1953 ceasefire in light of the South Korea joining on with the US’ and other countries in anti-proliferation efforts against North Korea and others who might transport WMD.
It never fails that when I step away from the blog, whether it’s for a couple of days or a week, that so many things happen in the world!
So, after an afternoon of “did they or didn’t they,” we have confirmation that the government in North Korea launched an Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile — you know, one of those things that could drop a multi-megaton-sized firecracker on Tokyo, or Seoul, or … Los Angeles:
—– North Korea’s destroyed it’s main cooling tower as part of it’s effort to show the world it’s committment to being open about it’s nuclear ambitions/stockpiles. Even the NYT in a roundabout way is acknowledging the breakthrough and giving the Bush admin credit.
