I have read in a couple of different places this morning, like at Lucianne.com, that Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor – the US women’s beach volleyball team – actually thanked the President yesterday after defeating the Chinese team to win the gold medal. This has to be seen to be believed!
I’ve been searching for the right words to describe the differences between McCain’s response to the war Russia has waged on Georgia, and Obama’s initial response (which was later revised to sound more like McCain’s), but Investor’s Business Daily pretty much sums up my feelings on the matter.  The differences, as they note, are indeed stark.Â
The French men’s relay swim team had been talking smack this weekend about how they were going to “smash” the American team. The US team was not favored to win the 4×100-meter freestyle relay final … but they did, edging out the French last night by a fingertip and setting a new world record in classic fashion.
From “diplomatic” to “tough guy” in a matter of a few hours. Â
Memeorandum is bursting with links this evening from lefties and righties discussing yesterday’s story about Obama’s cancellation of a scheduled visit to wounded US troops in Germany.  I briefly noted in a post this morning that it sound like the apparent reason the visit was cancelled was because Obama found out he couldn’t make a photo op out of it.
