As the debate over whether or not Caroline Kennedy is qualified to be appointed to take Hillary Clinton’s Senate seat rages on, Victor Davis Hanson tackles a related debate on the comparisons that have been made between Kennedy and Gov. Palin in terms of the treatment received by both from the mainstream media, and nails it:
I was in the middle of a leisurely look at this morning’s sales papers, and as it is every week, a Parade magazine was included with the sales papers and coupons. This week’s magazine featured a “best and worst of 2008” year in review of sorts, and I was disappointed but not surprised to see that not only did their campaign highs and lows include all the “highs” for Obama (except for one – McCain’s concession speech, of course) but one of the “lows” for McCain included a now-debunked myth about people allegedly yelling “kill him” and “terrorist” at the mention of Obama’s name at a McCain/Palin rally:
Earlier this year it was reported that the most loveable man in the mainstream media, Fox News Special Report’s Brit Hume, was retiring from anchoring the news effective the end of the year. Well, today was his last day as host of Special Report. Newsbusters (via J$) has the vid of the last few minutes of tonight’s broadcast, which includes a really nice tribute to the Britster.
