Sunday Football Open Thread: Panthers at the Falcons

It’s been ten days since the Panthers got their behinds whipped in front of a national audience on their home turf against the Giants. Would love to be able to say I’ve picked them to win this week versus the Falcons in the office pool but I did not. 🙁 Lot of jokes and discussion in the sports media about Cam Newton and Steve Smith in the last week-plus in terms of leadership, maturity, and taking the game to the next level. Will it translate into a win today? Let’s hope it does. The Panthers winning would be a “sacrifice” I’d willingly make in the office pool......   [Read More]

Sunday Football Open Thread: Saints at the Panthers

Are you ready for some football? 🙂 I am, especially considering this will be the Panthers home opener and against a division rival. Not only that, but after last week, it’s not only the players who are hungry for a Cats win. Fans of this team know the great plays these guys can make on the field. The potential for a winning season is definitely there. They just have to do it. The loss against Tampa Bay was downright embarrassing – to say the least. We can do better......   [Read More]

#MOWSS attendance figures for #DNC2012 under 1000, not the predicted “thousands”

Creative Loafing: City allowing, “on good faith”, #OccupyCLT #DNC2012 camp space (UPDATED)

This morning I wrote about an overnight development in which DNC 2012 demonstrators – including members of Occupy Charlotte – asserted they had been “in talks” with the city to make Marshall Park uptown into a campground for people to set up tents for the week of the convention. As of the time I wrote about and referenced this story, which was reported by the Charlotte Observer’s Cleve Wootson, it was unclear as to whether or not occupiers had actually been in contact with the city to discuss having the city give them special permission to break the anti-public park campaign ordinance strengthened earlier this year by our Democrat-controlled City Council......   [Read More]
