"Change" You Can Believe In:
"Nixon didn’t try to do that. They couldn't control (the media). They didn’t try. [...] What the hell do they think we are, puppets?"
- Liberal opinion writer Helen Thomas, describing the Obama admin's penchant for heavily scripting public appearances & press conferences - 7/1/09
“I think you cannot run a modern campaign in a post-9/11 era and deliberately not take a position on the most pressing national security issue of our time — I think the public will react to that,” said Democratic strategist David Sirota. “That’s what leadership is … it’s forging these kinds of coalitions that take steps forward and doesn’t necessarily allow the caucus or the Democratic Party to just wallow in this issueless muck.”
- Sounds like a Democratic strategist stumbled over a paper bag of common sense in a washington alley out behind O’Reilly’s bar and grill. Now if they can just figure out how to force feed it to all the “elite” closed minded Progressives….
FDR wanted unconditional surrender. Truman settled for a draw.
JFK and LBJ settled for a loss.
Clinton settled for a cigar.
Dems need someone like FDR again.
Why can’t we just take this for what it is? IF the dems came up with a plan they would be held to it. They will delay any plan as long as possible and here’s why…
The plan may not sit well with certain factions who they despirately depend on for votes (and they need every single vote they can get).
A dem plan based on strong defense will not buy the loopy leftists. They would go nuts and cut off the funding. A plan based on withdrawal and appeasment will not make any friends in the middle who they need reeeaalll bad for any chance of winning.
Then, when things go wrong with the plan they would be forced into making a choice to either change the plan or stick to it.
It can be quite difficult when you always want it both ways…
In your “Dems and Media determined to ignore Iraq Progress,” I found Senator Lieberman’s statements on point and I still do. Americans must provide a unifying front here at home to show our support instead of continuously engaging in this “political civil war” over the War in Iraq. I get so frustrated by the statements of some in the Democratic party that we must pull out of Iraq now and we’re losing the battle there. Clearly a majority of troops do nto agree with this opinion and many will tell you of the things they saw happening with their own eyes. I recently spoke to a troop who returned home a few months ago that told me how he helped build a sewage system for a town in Iraq that had never had this before. He said to see the tears of happiness in their eyes was amazing when they pumped the water. This is just one story but it exemplifies the sort of things that are happening there every day. The reality is they are there and fighting to finish this mission. We have to support the troops by supporting their mission – this just shouldn’t be a political war.
I see the lack of consensus in the D party as the reason they continue to revert back to their only plan – and that is to drop everything and not finish the job.
If the Democratic party really wanted to finish the job they would have to recognize how far we’ve come thus far. This can be clearly seen in their attempts to scare folks into thinking Iraq is on the brink of civil war.
Yes there were some unfortunate Mosque attacks and several innocent people were hurt and killed in the violence. However it was the Iraqi police force that is graduating new recruits every few weeks that calmed the violence. The coalition forces were backing them up, but Iraq is on its way to self-rule. And Iraq governing itself would devastate the Left’s hopes for gaining seats this November.
There are so many different viewpoints in this FOX article that I have a hard time pinpointing which one I’d like to comment on the most. First of all, I am unsure where Murtha gets his information that the troops don’t want to be in Iraq and the Iraqi people don’t want us there either. All reports from military units who have returned home and individual servicemen that I have read have pointed to exactly the opposite. The Iraqi people are extremely grateful for the new freedom they found and they are turning out in droves to join the military and the Iraqi police force. Our soldiers are not only dedicated to squashing terrorism but also to the people of the Middle East in general. They are forming relationships with civilians and Iraqi military/police that gives them a true connection there. But I do agree with Sen. Bob Kerry, the last thing we want the Iraqi people to record in their history books is that the U.S. abandoned them as soon as real progress became evident. The Democratic Party seems split into so many ways that I think it will be hard for them to unite behind any position or person for that matter.

And further proof, as if it were needed, that you can have every light on in the house and still be in the dark.
Their only message, if you can call it that, is that they’re against whatever Bush and/or the Republican Party are for.
Sort of a non-message, really…

Senator Lieberman’s comments also essentially made him an outcast in his own party.
He is oe of the last of the true democrats that haven’t been over run by the extreme left.
