Tampa Bay Bucs at the Carolina Panthers (UPDATE: PANTHERS WIN 38-23)

To say tonight’s game between the Bucs and the Cats is huge would be an understatement. Both of them sit tied at the top of the competitive NFC South, and whoever wins tonight will not only get the right to claim first place in their division, but their playoff hopes will be a lot more clear. Not only that, but the Cats are looking for revenge after getting trounced by Tampa Bay 27-3 back in mid-October. That game was on Bucs turf, though, and Carolina – like all other NFC South teams this year, has not lost a division game at home. Hilarious

Patrick Appel, a colleague of Andrew Sullivan’s, is guestblogging for him this week while he’s away (presumably to seek help) and one of his first posts is one in which he takes on the “facts” Sullivan has asserted about Gov. Palin’s Trig pregnancy. Suffice it so say Appel is more in line with the conservative view than Andrew’s. Liberals to Obama: What’s up with your admin picks, policy shifts?

As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, staunch liberals were showing signs of frustration over their belief that Obama hadn’t thrown “any bones to the progressive base” with his cabinet choices and admin staffers. I disagreed then and still do now over the assertion, but that may be because I’m a conservative who would have prefered picks that would be more in line with conservative viewpoints than liberals ones. That being said, with a few exceptions, I’m happy to admit that Obama hasn’t taken his administration to the far far left – not yet anyway.
