Another Obama/Jesus comparison

Will this nonsense EVER stop?

BET anchor Jeff Johnson bizarrely likened the popularity of President Barack Obama to the reaction many Christians have to the name of Jesus during a segment on Tuesday’s Larry King Live on CNN: “There’s a joke sometimes — when you can be in a church, and if you just say Jesus, the people will shout. I mean, now, if you just say Obama, people will shout.”

Yeah, but some of us who shout upon hearing his name aren’t feeling particularly spiritual when we do so! *insert eyeroll here*

Even the most agnostic would concede that Jesus, son of Joseph the carpenter, could have assembled a cabinet. Obama, not so much.

What amazes me is that the people who pursue this nonsense typically had a rather dim view of Christianity and religion as a whole.

“There’s a joke sometimes — when you can be in a church, and if you just say Jesus, the people will shout. I mean, now, if you just say Obama, people will shout.”

Of course, in Jesus’ case, they’re shouts of faith and love. Anyone that does that for Obama (and isn’t a relative or close friend) is clearly insane. On top of that, given the way things are going, I’m certain those shouts will be increasingly angry.
