The Associated Press, among other outlets, featured prominently earlier this week a story of a gay Gulf war veteran who passed away and the church that canceled his memorial service the day before it was supposed to take place once they found out through pictures submitted to the church as part of the memorial that he was gay.

Remember “Green Helmet Guy,” the Lebanese civilian defense worker who we saw in multiple AP photographs after various alleged Israeli attacks on Lebanon staging photographs of dead children for photographers? Last night, in a misc. election news post, I noted the story about it being discovered by Slate’s Lucy Morrow Caldwell that Rudy Giuliani’s daughter supports Senator Barack Obama, and I commented that I found the story yawn-worthy.
