Last night, President Obama spoke at an Iftar dinner at the White House. (Iftar is the traditional Muslim dinner held at the end beginning of during Ramadan.) In his remarks, he waded deep into controversy over the building of a large mosque at Ground Zero in New York City. In his remarks, he made clear his support for the mosque, appealing to America’s traditions of religious tolerance:
Can someone explain to me why Rev. Franklin Graham, son of national treasure Rev. Billy Graham, was disinvited from the Pentagon’s National Day of Prayer service over “controversial comments” made about Islam last year, yet the United States taxpayer is being forced to fund Ground Zero mosque imam and blame-America-firster and Hamas sympathizer (not to mention Sharia-friendly) Feisal Abdul Rauf’s upcoming Middle East trip – a trip we’re supposed to believe is an attempt to build “moderate Muslim bridges”?
Absolutely intolerable. And not defensible in any way.
I’m a little bit behind this morning on blogging, so in the interest of catching up, read AllahPundit’s full post on the barrage of attacks that have hit SC State House Representative/GOP candidate for governor (and endorsed by Sarah Palin) Nikki Haley – from other Republicans. The person who appears to be behind most of the smears is one of her more prominent primary opponents, Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer. He’s denying it, but the writing is on the wall and it’s pretty much a sure bet that he’s now throwing everything but the kitchen sink at her to stop her momentum in advance of next Tuesday’s SC primary.
