Oh brother. You knew as soon as McCain started answering questions so well at Saturday night’s faith forum at Pastor Rick Warren’s Saddleback Church that The Usual Suspects were going to cry “McCain knew the questions in advance!”   And less than 24 hours after the forum was over, they did just that.
Are any of ya’ll going to watch the “Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency,” conducted by the popular Rev. Rick Warren, author of the mega-selling Christian book Purpose-Driven Life? It’ll be two hours of faith-related questions directed to both McCain and Obama, who will get an hour each with Rev. Warren:Â
Here we go again. Another day, another liberal Christian trying to pick and choose just which Christian values are the ones evangelicals should consider before entering the voting booth this November.
A few commenters talked about this issue last night in another thread, and I’ve just gotten done reading the Politico article myself that talks about McCain’s comment that he would not rule out a pro-abortion candidate like former PA Gov. Tom Ridge (R) or Independent Democrat Senator Joe Lieberman  in selecting his VP running mate.
I wrote a few days ago about how McCain’s response to the Georgia/Russia conflict demonstrated his presidential qualities in terms of dealing with a pressing and developing international issue, and noted how Obama’s response – made while he has been vacationing in Hawaii – looks as though he’s reading off of cue cards. The contrasts couldn’t be more stark.  Lots of other people have noticed it, too, including – surprisingly – the NYTimes.Â
Karl Rove’s got an interesting piece up in the WSJ today that focuses on what he believes are going to be the four battleground states that will determine who becomes our next president: Colorado, Virginia, Michigan, and Ohio. It’s good reading for Electoral College junkies who are paying more attention to state polls than national polls. In the piece, he also talks about what both McCain and Obama will need to do in those states in order to have a good shot at winning them.
