And speaking of conventions …
It’s been a long time since I linked to Senator Zell Miller (D-GA)’s barnburner of a speech at the 2004 RNC. Here it is again.

Via CNNÂ (h/t: ST reader MD):
I know we’re all excited as heck about the announcement of Gov. Sarah Palin as Mc’s veep choice, but in the interest of fairness – and to help prepare everyone for the inevitable criticisms that will follow – I wanted to present some “pros and con” arguments about her from conservatives we can trust, and get your thoughts.
Seven months ago just a few days before Super Tuesday, I wrote about the State of the Conservative Union. And as we all remember, at that time, it wasn’t good. The main frustration conservatives felt at the time was over the fact that they felt like they didn’t have any good choices in the primary. Not only that, but the writing was on the wall that McCain – a man who conservatives have had their share of issues with - was very likely going to be our nominee, and without much of a fight from his Republican opponents.Â
It’s official! Fox News’ Carl Cameron is reporting that a senior source in the McCain campaign has confirmed it’s Gov. Sarah Palin.
10:40 AM: New post – It’s official: It’s Palin!
