Former candidate for president, and McCain’s ally in the Senate, Fred Thompson has officially endorsed John McCain (h/t: Memeorandum):
A couple of years ago, I wrote about LA Times columnist Joel Stein’s candor about how he openly admitted that he did not support the troops, and how he encouraged others like him who did not support the war in Iraq to do the same. As you can see from the comments to that thread, Stein provoked some strong reactions.
With the Republican nomination race effectively decided after Mitt Romney’s departure from it yesterday, talk today has turned to who McCain should select for his VP running mate.
As longtime readers know, I’ve been very critical of Senator Barack Obama at this blog, even before he officially announced his candidacy, only praising him once that I can recall. It’s no secret that I’m not a fan of the O-man, but I want to make clear that I hold no personal ill-will towards the junior Senator from Illinois. He seems like he’d be a nice guy. I just don’t think he’s fit to be president of the United States, for reasons mentioned in the posts I linked to in this paragraph. He’s too liberal, very inexperienced, and has very, very bad ideas on how to conduct foreign policy.
The rumors were swirling this morning, but now it’s official. The AP’s got a blurb about it – I just heard about it on Rush a few minutes ago when I went out to grab a bite to eat. Romney made the announcement during his CPAC speech.
