Even with the Panthers comeback victory last week against the Redskins, both they and the Bucs are still cellar dwellers in the NFC South, with the Cats being 1-3 and the Bucs still winless at 0-5. Obviously, the Cats are going to try and turn this into a winning streak, while the Bucs are hungry for win number one and would like to do it on their home turf.
Even though ST is busy recovering, we’ll have an open NFL thread. Since my team, the Green Bay Packers, is off this weekend, I’ll try to focus my attention on the house team as the Carolina Panthers host the Washington Redskins. It won’t be easy because my local Fox affiliate will be carrying the team that broke my heart on Monday, the Minnesota Vikings.
Have I mentioned how much I am dreading this game? As I wrote yesterday, it’s highly doubtful the Cowboys are going to lose two in a row in their shiny new stadium. And even if the Panthers were playing here at home, I have my doubts on whether or not they would win.

It’s the Iggles versus the Cats today at BOA Stadium here in Charlotte on the first Sunday of regular season football this season. I confess I have paid very little attention to the off-/pre-season football talk but nevertheless am hopeful that the Panthers have put their embarassing playoff loss to the Cardinals last season behind them, will move forward from their disappointing pre-season (0-4), and will have a good season.
ST reader and fellow North Carolinian Donna went to the anti-ObamaCare protest in Raleigh yesterday and sends along a link to pictures from it. Obama held a “healthcare town hall” in Raleigh yesterday and the protesters wanted to make sure to greet him properly 😀
