I wrote about the “you’re a chickenhawk so you can’t comment” argument back in August of last year, but am revisiting it again thanks to a great opinion piece on the subject written by Jeff Jacoby in today’s Boston Globe. He brings some additional points to the table that are worth mentioning:
This past week we’ve seen an embarassing amount of public ungratefulness shown by US citizens in Lebanon complaining about the evacuation process (for starters ‘why should we have to pay the US gov’t for our evacuation?’ and ‘if you’re gonna bring food for us, bring it for others!!!!’ and ‘what’s takin’ you so long?’). I hope the folks complaining loudest about the ‘slow’ evacuation process to the media don’t take it out on our fine military men and women helping to evacuate them, but in case it has, Malkin has up a great post expressing MUCH thanks to US military servicemen and women who are taking part in the evacuation of Americans from Lebanon.
No finer example of Bush Derangement Syndrome can be found today in the media than this piece from the editorial page of the NY Times. Guess what? They’ve finally come out and admitted what their liberal cohorts have been saying or implying for years: Bush isn’t not interested in fighting terror, but instead has used 9-11 to feed his raging desire to increase Presidential power:
