Post-Iowa straw poll open thread
This weekend has been a big one in Republican politics as the dash to elect the nominee who we hope will defeat Barack Obama in November 2012 is on. Michele Bachmann won the Iowa straw poll, with Ron Paul finishing 2nd and T-Paw a distant third. As a result of that finish, T-Paw announced today that he is dropping out of the race. Mitt Romney, I should note, had no ground game in Iowa.
‘Experts’: Racism is at the core of the birther issue
After the attempted assassination of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, the MSM and shamelessly opportunistic liberals shifted their focus from accusing opponents of President Obama’s agenda of being “racists” to trying to paint conservatives from coast to coast as “guilty by association” via “promoting an atmosphere of violence” – in spite of the fact that Giffords’ mentally unstable shooter, Jared Lee Loughner, didn’t fit the carelessly constructed MSM narrative of “right wing extremist.” Well, now that the Congresswoman is well on her way to recovery – and now that we’re headed full steam into Campaign 2012 mode – opportunistic liberals and MSM types are bringing back the “any criticism of Obama = racism” meme, as exemplified by this piece from the Yahoo! Nice Deb has the video. You can read excerpts of the speech here.
Hey, MSM: Did ya notice Tim Scott and Allen West won in MAJORITY-WHITE districts?
Ya know, you’d think with the last two years of banging the “Tea Partiers are raaaacists” drum that the MSM would be so embarassed they’d be issuing mea culpas of some sort in light of Tuesday night’s wave of “minority” wins in the GOP from coast to coast. Of course, I’m being a bit rhetorical and sarcastic here because the MSM – like Democrats -rarely admit they’ve gotten something wrong, but still it’s worth pointing out. And we need to do so again and again to make up for the fact that the left will try to bury this significant news by way of ignoring it or downplaying it.
Howard Dean sneers at Tea Party, says GOP has “created monster”
The confirmed Socialist (scroll) and Dr. of Disology told the Obama administration’s favorite “news” network that the GOP has, in effect, “created a monster” by giving credence to the Tea Party movement:
