Murtha may be called to testify

Posted by: Sister Toldjah on June 15, 2006 at 9:08 am

Wouldn’t that be something? Via the Washington Times:

A criminal defense attorney for a Marine under investigation in the Haditha killings says he will call a senior Democratic congressman as a trial witness, if his client is charged, to find out who told the lawmaker that U.S. troops are guilty of cold-blooded murder.

Attorney Neal A. Puckett told The Washington Times that Gen. Michael Hagee, the Marine commandant, briefed Rep. John P. Murtha, Pennsylvania Democrat, on the Nov. 19 killings of 24 Iraqis in the town north of Baghdad. Mr. Murtha later told reporters that the Marines were guilty of killing the civilians in “cold blood.” Mr. Murtha said he based his statement on Marine commanders, whom he did not identify.

Mr. Puckett said such public comments from a congressman via senior Marines amount to “unlawful command influence.” He said potential Marine jurors could be biased by the knowledge that their commandant, the Corps’ top officer, thinks the Haditha Marines are guilty.

“Congressman Murtha will be one of the first witnesses I call to the witness stand,” Mr. Puckett said yesterday.

Mr. Puckett represents Staff Sgt. Frank D. Wuterich, an eight-year Marine who was a key participant in the Haditha operations that resulted in the 24 civilian deaths.

No word yet from the Murtha camp.

This is where Murtha proves he is no longer a Marine and the yellow stripe down his back will be the brightest illumination you’ve ever seen.

I don’t know what it is about Congress, but it used to be once a Marine, always a Marine. John Glenn and John Murtha are proving that SOMETHING in Congress not only makes you turn your back on the Corps, it makes you attack it.

Great news! About time Murtha was held accountable for his disgraceful remarks. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

  3. Baklava says:

Innocent? They are guilty Karen! Haven’t you heard from the press that the doctor on the scene and a budding young journalist provided evidence that our Marines killed systematically and at close range with the Iraqi’s kneeling facing the other way?

It can’t be anything else besides cold blooded murder could it? Could it Murtha?

  4. benning says:

Betcha Murtha comes up with some sort of dodge that allows hime to not appear. Just watch!

Oh Lord, please let him have to testify. And could you please throw in TV coverage? Thanks!

It was my understanding that “Semper Fi” meant always faithful.

It seems that doesn’t mean much to Murtha.

Which I would also translate into how he conducts his business on Washington, because if he isn’t Semper Fi, then how can he be trusted to look out for the interests of his constituents and America.

I do not find the man trustworthy, so is it any wonder he wants the leadership position in the Democrat Party?

We will wait to see the evidence and these Marines have their day in court before announcing their guilt Murtha, but can we say the same about the blood on your hands from the knife you keep stabbing in the back of our Troops, especially the Marines?

You are no friend of the troops Murtha, you have shown that quite clearly.

Every time he was called to testify – and even on days that he wasn’t – the MSM speculated on the inevitable indictment of Karl Rove and the impeachment of President Bush that was sure to follow.

Sooooooo – now that he may be called to testify will the MSM start speculating on Rep. Murtha’s inevitable indictment and the Democrats impending November meltdown?:-?

  8. G-Monster says:

Mwalimu…Good Point…Can you imagine Katie Couric, Dan Rather or Matt Lauer interviewing Murtha. Not that it would happen.

Mr. Murtha, some people view you as a ________, and think you should resign. What say you to this?

  9. G-Monster says:

Also, just because Murtha was breifed by the military, does not mean that the information he received matches up with his breifing. My guess is any information he received, he twisted, streched or changed it to fit his politics. Let the trial begin. Let the American people see for themselves how far Murtha stretched the truth to fit his agenda. Let’s do it before november. Maybe Fox News can get the info out there.

  10. - GM, I’m betting Murtha used the briefing as a cover to spew his own twisted politics, and possibly leak other information he was getting fed by the various “moles” in government and overseas.

    - That he’s so willing for political purposes, or dumber than sand, to believe partisan distortions and outright lies, comes as no real surprise. The Left honestly believes that you say whatever you need to for the “cause”.

    - When and if, some of these same people are exposed as liars and partisan hacks, uninterested in America for its own sake, the Left will uligize him as a hero, no matter how dispicable his rhetoric. Thats the Lefts standing mantra of “infalibility”. Nothing is sacred, anything goes. I hope in the next four years it all comes crashing down around their rotten heads.

    - Bang **==

Retired military officers are subject to recall and, contrary to any belief, are current officers in their respective branches. There will be no dodges on his part if he is called as a witness.
