With polls showing the Dems poised to take control of Congress, one magazine – Barron’s – is predicting that the R’s will hold on to their control in Washington. But just barely. Drudge has a snippet of the subscription-only content from the Barron’s site. DNC Chair Howie Dean refuses to debate RNC Chair Ken Mehlman
It was supposed to be a debate between the two current chairs of the Democrat and Republican parties respectively, but it ended up being a debate between the current chair of the RNC and the former chair of the DNC (Terry McAuliffe). Here’s the video of Today show host Meredith Vieira introducing McAuliffe and Mehlman, and announcing that NBC had invited Dean on and noting he declined to be on at the same time as Mehlman. ROTFL! Too funny.
Loser of the week: Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. crashes Bob Corker’s news conference
In an unbelievable display of chutzpah yesterday, Rep. Harold Ford, Jr. showed up uninvited at a scheduled media event for his opponent Bob Corker and the cameras were rolling. You can see video of the event here and media coverage of it here. Here’s the AP write-up on the showdown in Tennessee. I wonder how much attention the national media will give this? If it were the other way around, I’m betting we’d have seen a lot more coverage of it. Just a thought …
BBC executives admit to liberal bias
Last month Thomas Edsall, former senior political reporter for the Washington Post, admitted in an interview with Hugh Hewitt that the mainstream media in general tilted “overwhelmingly to the left.”
