Democratic party attempts image transformation
Newly crowned House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is in the midst of an image makeover. Considering what district she represents, I guess she doesn’t want people to find out just how deeply committed to far left policies she really is. The image of the big bad wolf dressed as grandma in the Little Red Riding Hood story is, for some strange reason popping into my head right about now. I wonder why.
Murtha plans to “fence the funding” for the Iraq war
Buried in this piece by Bush-hater Arianna Huffington was this tidbit of info on Murtha’s plans to control the Iraq war purse strings (emphasis added):

Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) was nicer than he should have been in the face of the disruption. Of course he probably realizes that crowd, as part of the Nutroots faction, helped get his party elected to the majority, so showing a little ‘respect’ for Sheehan and Co. appeared to be what he chose to do in response. Taking sort of a “don’t bite the hand that feeds” approach.
Incoming House Judiciary Committee Chair John Conyers admits to ethics violations
And in turn, the House Ethics Committee punishes him by issuing a statement that essentially says that Rep. Conyers, who is also a proponent of impeaching President Bush, should refrain from doing it again.
