Waiting for San Fran Nan to investigate Howard Dean’s “funders” in 3, 2, …

Former DNC Chair Howie Dean on the Ground Zero mosque controversy (audio from WABC-AM’s “Goodman to Go“):

NRO’s Dan Foster has a partial transcript:

β€œWe have to understand that it is a real affront to people who lost their lives, including Muslims. That site doesn’t belong to any particular religion, it belongs to all Americans and all faiths.”

He also also suggested the “Hamosque” be moved elsewhere.

Dean is one of several prominent Democrats – including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid – who have come out in the last few days against the mosque being built two blocks from Ground Zero. I anxiously await the start of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s proposed investigation into where these Democrats “got their funding.”

Pelosi, btw, has sort of “clarified” her initial remarks about an investigation. In a statement, her office said (via Memeorandum):

“The freedom of religion is a Constitutional right. Where a place of worship is located is a local decision.

“I support the statement made by the Interfaith Alliance that ‘We agree with the ADL that there is a need for transparency about who is funding the effort to build this Islamic center. At the same time, we should also ask who is funding the attacks against the construction of the center.’

“For all of those expressing concern about the 9/11 families, we call upon them to join us in support of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act when Congress returns in September.”

Isn’t it interesting how Pelosi is always insinuating or outright suggesting that various conservative movements aren’t genuine and so they have to be “funded” in order to drum up more support? She danced this same waltz during the health care “reform” debate by repeatedly calling reform opponents who were showing up at health care townhalls part of coordinated “astroturfing” campaigns.

Of course, if she was really concerned about truly phony movements strongly aided by “outside interest groups,” she’d be all over the issue of unions & other left wing activists/thugs showing up at the health care townhalls and other related events, as well as the ones protesting across the country, militantly taking over bank lobbies, camping out at the homes of banking execs and lobbyists, the “protestors” who have been paid to protest because union help was too expensive, etc. But she doesn’t care, because to the left, their “concerns” are genuine and must be addressed, where as any concern strongly and vocally expressed by the right is anything but grassroots and instead is nothing more than coordinated mobbish “manufactured outrage” designed to “derail the Obama agenda.”

Well – they got very last part of it right, anyway.
